Just left the bakery and couldn’t wait to load up their crunchy seeded semolina bread with scrambled eggs and peppers. I also got rainbow cookies and they were delicious. The bread alone will make you go back over and over.
Love this place! They have a great selection of Italian American cookies and the best, crunchy bread. The owner makes everything with love from scratch and you can taste it. A neighborhood gem that we don't have many of! Worth a visit!
Delicious pastries and coffee - highly recommend! To start with, I love the energy and the atmosphere of this place. As soon as my mom and I walked in, we were greeted by the owner. Although this was our first visit, he made us feel as if we're old friends. This is the kind of energy I love (and miss) about this neighborhood. We got some bread, pastries and coffee. Haven't tried the bread yet, but the scones and the danishes are delicious. Everything is just so fresh! And the coffee is also really good. I will definitely be stopping by next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Best of the best. Prices are more then fair, quality is unmatched - plus it’s walking distance from family. The taste is unbelievable and super fresh. This is one of those old school places you’ll see on social media- a hidden gem now, it’s gotta be there 50 years. You have to go try it, I’m 99% sure it’s cash only. Yes the bread from that masterpiece is from there and was baked a few hours earlier. Cookies were unbelievable. Can’t be beat! This is the kinda Old school place that hipsters try to copy/recreate- with the words artesian. You have to try this place.
Walking into the 18th Avenue Bakery is like walking into a time warp back to the days when traditional Italian bakeries ruled the roost! Having grown up in Providence, RI, I miss the days when my mom would take me to “the Hill” (the RI version of Bensonhurst in Brooklyn or Arthur Avenue in the Bronx) to buy Italian bread, breadsticks and delicious pastries and cookies that were always accompanied with friendly service. This is also what you get (plus great diner style coffee for $1.50) at the 18th Avenue Bakery! As the neighborhood has changed, the majority of his customers have moved away (and those who have moved in only shop in kosher bakeries) but Jack is still at the bakery six days a week before 3:00AM baking the most delicious breads, cookies and pastries in Brooklyn. But these days he is there baking with just one helper and then alone he has to personally deliver to his wholesale accounts and then come back to man the counter (which explains his limited retail hours). But the good news is that the CTown on 18th Avenue and 66th St and the La Bella Supermarket on 13th Avenue at 79th St carry his breads and rolls and they are both open longer hours and accept credit cards and EBT!
