A+ Academy SHSAT SAT

I am so satisfied with A+ Academy and their staff! Prior to taking the SHSAT class my daughter felt that she was not smart enough to take the exam and was worried sick about how she would do. But after finishing the SHSAT course at A+ she changed her view completely. The weekly SHSAT practice exams, additional tutoring and constant guidance on how to tackle exam questions helped her gain her confidence in her test taking skills and in herself. At first I was not too sure if A+ was the place for me and my child but after speaking with Michelle and the staff at the 18th Avenue location I was at ease because I was placing my child’s education into the hands of people who cared. I have been to many tutoring centers over the years and none treated my child like they did at A+. This was my first time dealing with the SHSAT process so I was a confused parent like many, but the staff helped us walk through the application process and the exam. Often times I have seen that parents are neglected when they consistently ask questions regarding their child, but I was always met with the same care from the staff. I have seen my daughter’s growth over the last few weeks through her exam scores and have high hopes for her following the exam. My daughter’s school work has also changed drastically as a result. I personally was not a fan of the whole online learning thing and thought my daughter was not learning, but now my daughter is as eager as ever to learn and grow!

I had a very great experience with A+ Academy. During the summer SAT program I took, I was able to settle in a classroom-like setting and prep for the SAT. I gained a lot of knowledge from the personalized tutors that were willing to exceed my expectations of getting a good score on the SAT and was very confident when I took the exam at the end of August. In the end, I was able to increase my score by 200 points. Prepping at the academy also gave me much motivation to do better in school! Thank you so much!

I went to A+ Academy for SHSAT preparation in the summer of 2013. Students were placed in different classes based on a practice test. Therefore, students can learn at a comfortable pace. A+ pays attention to how students are performing. I was moved to the highest class after my grades improved. The experienced teachers and detailed workbooks helped me raise my score from under 500 to a 626. After two years in Stuyvesant High School, I had to prepare for the SAT. A+ Academy offered classes from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., considering students' summer jobs and internships. I once again had an amazing experience and was able to raise my SAT score by 170 points.

THEY GIVE ALOT OF WORK. I MEAN A LOTT. I took the 6 week, 3hrs, 5 days a week, summer course. It was for high school prep. My teachers were pretty good. Especially my ela teacher, while my math teacher seemed nice and all but I just couldn’t grasp the topics (geometry) despite genuinely paying attention. The class reminded me of shsat learning rather than topics I would learn in school. Classroom was COLD, no windows either. Homework got so bad my mom personally let me skip a day(which is saying something, my mom is insanely strict w/ hw) I didn’t hate the classes but…. i didn’t think they were entirely helpful. Try and look somewhere else.

Teachers are great. Horrible curriculum it uses "I Ready" questions and articles. Has a lot of cameras. The basement boys bathroom lock can be opened with a key or fingernail. No privacy at ALL.
