I can't say enough good things about the college essay program here. It truly exceeded my expectations. Mr Ly is an amazing instructor and invested in his students' success. His guidance and tips were invaluable, and I feel so much more confident about my college applications thanks to his help.

I highly recommend A+ Academy on 18th Avenue! The teachers are patient, professional, and really care about helping students succeed. The classes are well-organized, and the staff always go above and beyond. Great place for learning and growth!!!

An absolute waste of both money and time. It not only wastes the student’s time it also wastes so much money on essentially just two notebooks and a folder. The questions that are printed on the textbooks they give the students are also not accurate, some of the math questions are misprinted, often having crucial numbers or variables missing and sometimes might not even have the answer printed due to the misprints. They promote themselves as a great institute for parents who want their kids to improve or do good on either their SHSAT or their SAT where, most likely, their own friends or school could tutor them more effectively. The teachers there also are not good at or do not even try to tutor the students. The tutors that they hire are mainly doing the questions themselves and speaking the steps out loud while expecting the students to understand what they’re saying or just assigning a series of questions to them. It’s of absolute no use at all, it’s a situation of if you got the questions right then you got it right, if you got it wrong then it’s your problem. The teachers arent even teaching the actual lessons provided in the books, they just skip to the questions. Some teachers might try and teach but they honestly just read off the pages provided to them, which is something the students can do on their own free time. I understand if some students are actually learning something because they need someone to explain it to them but A+ is honestly just a scam. Their grading system is a whole other story and is just complete nonsense.

my daughter has been going here since she was in 5th grade and 7th grade for shsat prep. the teachers go at their own pace and they dont care whether the students dont understand the questions they are just in own dreamland doing their own thing. ive spent thousands and thousands on this shsat prep class and the practice tests are nothing like the real test dont bring your kids here.

Recommended by asian parents because of stereotypically “good teachers and resources” and told that it’s “basically guaranteed Stuyvesant,” ABSOLUTELY NOT!! They give you state test packets from past years and call it a day while you give them your life expenses. This is NOT worth it, the scores show nothing. The SHSAT is not that hard, if you stress—studying by yourself with practice books of your own is better than going here. Please, don’t spend money on this ridiculous scam. For all the upcoming SHSAT takers, good luck! It was not as bad as I expected. 👍👍
