This is about Bolin Tang at Acre NY and his subleaser Qi Chai. I had a very negative experience subleasing an apartment through Bolin Tang. The apartment was already dirty and messy when I moved in, with pre-existing issues like a broken lock and clogged tub. Despite this, when I moved out I never received my full security deposit back. My security deposit wrongfully withheld without explanation or itemized statement, even though our Sublease clearly required it to be returned within 10 days. In addition, Bolin took a $2,250 Broker Fee from me, which is illegal in NYC. On top of that, I was made to pay for unnecessary extra charges such as an Uber package return for the key, which was never part of the agreement and is not standard practice in NYC leases. I documented the apartment thoroughly with timestamped photos, yet my evidence and messages were ignored. What makes this worse is the lack of communication... Bolin Tang has not responded to my messages since I raised the issue. For me, this felt like a bait-and-switch and a scam. Future renters should be very cautious before working with him or entering into any agreement connected to this building!

Do not trust Acre Max Realty. Horrible experience and completely unprofessional. I paid them $2,250 for a sublease in NYC and was promised proper tenant access. Instead, I arrived on move-in day and was told to register as a “guest” — something they never mentioned beforehand. The building later confirmed that being a guest meant I wouldn’t be able to receive mail or be officially recognized as a tenant. I was effectively left homeless, forced to pay for hotels and transportation out of pocket. I gave them more than 72 hours to fix the issue — and they failed. I never received the housing I paid for, yet they still refused to return my money. It’s been over 5 weeks, and they’re still holding my money hostage while offering only a partial refund for a service they never delivered. Absolutely unacceptable. Dishonest, irresponsible, and untrustworthy. Save yourself the stress — go elsewhere.
