I had an excellent experience at Basicare Medical with Dr. Lou and his team. The office is clean, well‑organized, and the staff is consistently friendly and efficient. Check‑in was smooth, and I never felt rushed at any point during my visit. Dr. Lou is thorough, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain conditions and treatment options in a way that’s easy to understand. He listens carefully, answers questions patiently, and genuinely cares about long‑term health and prevention. It’s clear he brings years of experience to his practice. The medical assistants and front‑desk staff are equally impressive professional, courteous, and very helpful with scheduling and insurance. The entire team works together seamlessly, which makes every visit comfortable and stress‑free. Overall, Basicare Medical delivers high‑quality care with a personal touch. I highly recommend Dr. Lou and his staff to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and trustworthy medical practice.
Literally the best allergist in town! The people here are very nice and I love the hospitality. Dr. Luo and Cathy are also very kind and professional. I would highly recommend people to come here to get treated!
I’ve been coming here for over a year now for my allergy treatment, and I can’t thank Dr. Yong Luo and his staff enough for their incredible support. It’s always an enjoyable experience getting my weekly shot—the front desk always asks about your day and makes you feel truly cared for! The wait time is short too, which is a big plus. I remember how severe my allergies were in 2024, and now, just a year later, I feel so much better. The communication with the doctors has been excellent throughout the process. It’s a bittersweet feeling that I no longer need to come in every week—it means the treatment is working well! The office is spacious and well-maintained, which is another huge plus!
I had a very disappointing experience at this allergist’s office. Upon arrival, I was told I needed to pay my deductible since I hadn’t met it for the year yet. I paid via Zelle before being seen. I came specifically to get a skin allergy test and to discuss allergy shots, as my allergies are quite severe. During my visit, I shared my blood test results from my primary care doctor with the allergist. After discussing my symptoms, I told the doctor I wanted a skin test for a more accurate understanding of my allergies since I’ve never had one before. That’s when I was told the skin test would be an additional payment — not covered by insurance because I hadn’t met my deductible. The front desk never mentioned that the skin test was a separate cost from my initial payment. I was told it would cost about $600 out of pocket, which came as a complete surprise. In the end, I didn’t get the skin test done, and all we did was review the same blood test results I already had from my PCP — something I could’ve done on my own. Overall, I felt misled about the costs, and I left feeling like I wasted both my time and money. Very disappointed with how unclear and unhelpful the entire visit was.
Allergy treatment is a long term commitment that you have to go consistently every week and progresses to monthly for at least 2 years. If you have a tight schedule or you work everyday I recommend that you stay away from this place. Although the closing hours are 5pm every Thursday to Tuesday or 7pm Wednesday, if you're not there at least 30 minutes before closing which is 4:30pm Thursday to Tuesday or 6:30pm on Wednesday they will not let you take the shot even if you're one minute late! Also be aware that the elevator in the Union Building takes forever and the line sometimes goes outside the building. Every time I am there for an appointment it takes at least 5 minutes to get to the 10th floor. Reasons I am leaving a bad review to inform others before they make a long time commitment: 1. 9/9/25: I have my weekly allergy shot appointment at 4:30 pm. (This is my 17th shot that I come every Tuesday, but the time varies depending on if my boss lets me leave early.) I arrived at 4:35pm and was 5 mins late because the elevator took forever to go up and had to stop at each floor. Receptionist informed me at 4:38pm I am not able to take the shot because they are not allowing any shots after 4:30pm on the dot in case I get any severe allergies during the 30 minutes which I understood. I told them I work everyday and Tuesday is the only time my boss allows me to be flexible with my time to get the shot. They said well come tomorrow, we close at 7pm Wednesday and I said I cannot do that as well because by the time I arrive in Flushing from Manhattan it is already 7pm and you won't allow me to take the shot. I asked if I can try to see if I can make it on Thursday at 4:30pm without an appointment and they agreed. So that day I consulted with the doctor only and when I left the room it was around 5 pm - 5:10p. I saw that they still had patients outside the reception area and I thought to myself I could have just got the shot at 4:38 pm and be done with it! I didn't want to complain and just let it go since it was the first time I was informed about this 30 minute policy. Will include more details of the situation with the attached photos since they don't let me post a long detailed review.
