Waited 25 min on a Saturday morning, which wasn't too bad! The staff is very friendly and everything was delicious. They only had 2 paninis choices that day and the jalapeño one was not as spicy luckily! I ordered a espresso drink by mistake but it was so smooth that I didn't mind it. The flan with Uber dessert was also so fluffy and yummy. Would def come back, but maybe once the lines die down a bit more (since they've only been open for 1 month)
Amazing little Filipino cafe in a residential area of Elmhurst; limited hours but amazing service and food and drinks! The adobo jalepeno melt has the perfect flavor from the original adobo dish and the melted cheese and toasted bread just makes for such a special sandwich. The Tultul salt adds a nice touch to the latte, and the Hey Jovy is such a perfect warm, comforting drink for the current weather. The pastries from Arellano are great, so happy they’re being sold here! Overall, a cafe I will be a regular at!
Be prepared for a line. Be prepared to chat with the people around you while you wait, snd be prepared for amazing customer service. On top of that — limited-edition Filipino pastries and artisan coffee that are absolutely worth it. This place was so good I got back in line just to grab a to-go container and try my third drink. Some spots are worth the wait. This is definitely one of them. PS: There’s a laundry spot next door for anyone who appreciates the art of multitasking —feed your self and do your chores all in one stop. 😄
This is a Filipino cafe that serves drinks and foods that are all Filipino-flavor inspired! My partner and I ordered the two signature lattes: the ube latte and the bukas na latte. The latter comes with grated salt on the top, which the staff grates directly on for us, which was cool! We tried the adobo chicken jalapeño sandwich, which is a hit here. I’m a big fan of adobo chicken, so this really hit the spot. The jus that comes on the side for dipping is so so good. It’s nice to know it’s a good spot for breakfast/coffee break or lunch! The pastries selection is small but mighty here- everything is delicious and is also sourced from local Filipino bakers. This is a great add to the neighborhood and they really highlight Filipino cuisine and flavors!! There’s ample seating indoors, most of the tables have 1-2 seats. While it wasn’t too crowded at 10am, by 11am it was filling up!
When I saw Bukas popped up on Instagram and saw how close it is to my home, I knew I had to try it with my boyfriend eventually. I waited a few weeks, maybe a month after opened to try it. We lined up on around 10:30AM on a Sunday morning when there was already a line out the door. We had at least 10-12 people ahead of us. I believe we waited outside for at least 1/2 hour or so. When we finally got in and waited by the register, we waited another 10-15 minutes for an employee to tend to us and take our orders. My boyfriend ordered the Champarado & I got the Ube Eclipse. I also picked up the last piece of Ube Flan. Both drinks were good, I truly enjoyed the Ube Eclipse, good flavor! The ube flan was amazing and one of the best I’ve had so far. The decor is super cute and feels very homey. Overall, I think this is a true gem and a special addition to the neighborhood. I do wished there were more food options on their menu, maybe later down the lines. I’m not sure what I’d like to try but I can’t wait to see how busy it gets in the warm weather
