I think Chris is very confident in his work and he is always able to finish my tax returns on time. He was very specific in what he wanted me to bring in. All I did was follow his instructions, and everything else was done for me. It’s as simple as that!

I called Chris York with a surprise tax bill that I had to deal with quickly. He and his team were very responsive, and addressed the issue in a matter of weeks. They were great at follow up and thoroughness, providing explanations and detail in layman’s terms. Chris did my taxes last year. Very meticulous and thorough. Even reviewed my last two years return which were not originally done by him and caught errors. He is a premium full service accountant.

When my mother died, Chris York took total advantage of my mother’s estate and charged many thousands of dollars for each invoice. This went on for months until I found another accountant that was honest.

Paid him a $350 consultation fee for him to take a max 2 minute look at my old tax returns and said everything looked wrong and it would cost me $7,500 for him to understand my finances and potentially fix them. And for him to understand it I needed to take time out of my day to send him 5 years worth of documents. Mmmkay no one is doing this. Speaks confidently and believes his service is worth this but he’s not saying anything ground breaking. I guess old people in the neighborhood believe in his services and they pay up. He’s definitely not doing $7,500 worth of real tax work. Also wasn’t familiar with equity deferred compensation which applies to a lot of people in the city. 40 years of experience didn’t make you aware of deferred equity comp? Makes me believe he doesn’t have sophicated clients. Office a mess. Employees don’t understand what I’m saying half the time (I had to repeat my name and phone number about 2-3 times. They wanted to take my credit card number over the phone for the $350 consultation fee but after them having a hard time taking down my name and number, no. I said I would come in and they can swipe my card after which they go and ask Mr. York for permission to do this - that took about 3-5 minutes and I was put on hold. In a word, Inefficient) and he thinks he can charge a premium. Maybe if he made my life easy but that’s not the case. RUN 🏃‍♀️ when he asks for the $350 consultation fee.
