As a patient, I have seen Dr. Chang three to four times, in most instances, for allergy medicine refills, and everything went well. However, on Tuesday, I was so unwell after returning from Canada, and I had a competition coming up in another state in four days. Typically, the lab test takes two days for my situation, and the doctor was expecting to contact me today, Friday. However, no one had contacted me, and as a patient, I was concerned since my condition had not improved or was perhaps a result of extended travel. Then, I inquired about my test result, and the receptionist replied that there was no lab result yet! As a patient, I was like, let me double-check with the lab because, as a patient, I deserve to get quality care. So I went to the lab, where they informed me that they had sent the lab result, and then I returned to the clinic, where the front desk refused to give me the paper of my result since the doctor was not there. I was seeking my lab result to go to urgent care if the doctor was not immediately available since, as the patient, I am the one suffering! She said she couldn't give it to me because she had to obey the doctor or her boss. So, please call the doctor for permission to see the lab result! As the patient is not only physically but also psychologically stressed out! Again, as the patient, I was the one who was suffering. Moreover, after she shouted at me numerous times, I told her that under HIPAA law, patients have the right to obtain their medical records, especially if action is required (HHS, 2020). I recorded the conversation, mainly when she repeatedly shouted because this was unfair to the patient!! She finally gave me the lab result after yelling at the patient, which was unfair! I give two stars because first few visits were cool! Again, please please please treat patients with respect, dignity and compassion! Stop yelling at patients! We just need help!
