Food: 4.3/5 Service: 4.7/5 Value: 4.5/5 A new boba shop in a sea of options. On the day we visited, they offered free samples of the jasmine and osthmanthus milk teas, which really drew us in. They were also offering bogo the weekend we visited so we got very lucky! Brown sugar boba with jasmine milk tea: the jasmine tea is so fragrant and enjoyable. Combine that’s with the decadence of the brown sugar and it creates a nice drink. I recommend 50% sugar and less ice! A great place to stop by and grab a quick boba. The cashier had bit of trouble with understanding English but he just needed me to repeat myself once so not a bit deal but please be patient when ordering!
Thank you for such a nice experience. The place felt really clean, which I always notice first, and the service? Super friendly—like genuinely nice people. Tried The Rock Oolong Milk Tea with Fermented Rice, and it was so good. The mix of flavors felt unique but comforting at the same time. Honestly, I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. Perfect level of sweetness, too—not overdone. Just a great spot to relax and sip on something interesting.
The store feels really clean, like they actually care about keeping it nice. Staff? Super friendly—felt like chatting with old friends, no awkward moments, just chill vibes. Tried their Rock Oolong Milk Tea with Fermented Rice today, and man, the flavors were so well-balanced. Sweet but not overboard, and that hint of fermented rice? Surprisingly comforting. Overall, just a really enjoyable little treat.
Really excited to see this famous Xi’an brand branch out to NYC as well! I tried the osmanthus oolong milk tea and the ChaHalo black milk tea frappé, and both were amazing. The osmanthus one was light and refreshing, perfect for when you want something not too sweet. However, I gotta say the star of the show is definitely the ChaHalo black milk tea for me. You can really taste how rich the tea base they used (jinjunmei black tea from the famous Wuyi mountains) is, and the notes are truly complex and melds well with the cream top and crunchy sprinkled nuts. I would highly recommend this drink to any tea lovers, definitely a unique tea flavor not commonly seen in boba shops. Also for any other ChaHalo fans out there, I did confirm with staff that they’d have their famous lychee drink on the menu too in the future!
I visited Chahalo in Chinatown during their grand opening when they offered a BOGO free promotion. The place was crowded, and I waited about 30 minutes in line to order. I got the Signature Chahalo Black Milk Tea Frappe. The drink was okay — not too sweet, and it had a nice tea aroma when drinking. However, the whipped cream on top was overly sweet and didn’t go well with the tea flavor. Overall, the drink wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t anything special or memorable. After waiting 30 minutes, I expected something more unique or impressive. If you’re in Chinatown, there are plenty of other drink shops around, so I think Chahalo needs to offer something that really stands out to make it worth the wait.
