The three meat over rice is this place's claim to fame. The bbq pork is my favorite. The chicken is okay and the duck is a little bit meager but it is overall fine. For 11 bucks it's phenomenal value.
When a place like this has roast ducks hanging in the window, especially in the heart of Flushing's Chinatown, you know it's going to be good. However, I didn't expect how good this was going to be After the initially confusing ordering process (you order with one person, pay with another, and pick up your order at a third person), I got my food - which was Three Meats over Rice - in my case I picked roast pork, crispy pork, and roast duck over rice This was a pretty simple meal. It's just a bed of rice, with three types of meat over it, partitioned into sections. there's also a small amount of lettuce off to the side. It's not the type of dish that goes viral for any sort of aesthetic preparation or presentation. How good could it really be? The answer is, absolutely incredible The meats were all-time good. I could write for paragraphs about each of the three meats I got in detail, but for brevity I'll keep it shorter than that. The roast duck was so juicy. When I've had duck in the past, it's tasted tough and gamey, but that was the absolute opposite here. It felt so fresh. The roast pork was also exceptional - it had a exterior that took on a red color which gave a slightly-sweet, slightly-smoky flavor that was just perfect. My absolute favorite, though, has to be the crispy pork. I noticed how crispy the skin was when I lightly touched the meat with my fork after opening the dish, but eating it was truly another level. It has to be the crispiest skin on meat I've ever had in my life. It's impossible to accurately describe how wonderful the skin on this pork was. The rice was also so good - it was cooked to the perfect level, and not dry at all. This dish spent over 30 minutes from when I picked it up to when I ate it, and didn't lose quality whatsoever. If I had one minor complaint, it would be that it didn't come with sauce. I realized later you had to ask separately for a ginger scallion sauce, but it would be nice if it were included. This would give even the plain rice that much more flavor. The portion size, for the money, might be the most incredible part of this dish. I think it's the most 'worth it' meal I've ever seen. For a total of $11, including a water bottle, you get this gargantuan plate of rice and meat. There's so much rice and meat here it could be two or three meals in a blink - and for less than the price of a Chipotle bowl, with even more expensive meats involved! It's such a low price for the amount of food you get it's unreal. This hits especially hard when you compare it to all the other food options around the US Open. Overall, this is just ridiculously good food at an all-time value. 9.75/10
This stall right off main street has one of the best roast meat platters that you can get! Walking by the stall, you can see all of their meats on display, looking fresh and juicy. I got the 3 meats platter here, which came with rice, cabbage, water, and your 3 choice of meats (I chose the classic chicken, duck, and pork). The portion was so generous for $10, and all of the meat was delicious. The cuts were thick, they were juicy, and so full of flavor. One of the best deals I've seen. Highly recommend.
Affordable char siu and all roasted meat in NYC, 20% off all day and without a line! Corner 28, a Hong Kong style roasted meat spot in the heart of Flushing, sparked my interest as its chinese name “旺角燒臘” refers to a distinct in HK (“Mongkok”). Their roast bbq pork (叉燒), roast pork belly (燒肉), and roast spare ribs (排骨) are only $12 per pound after discount. They also sell char siu rice for just $10. CASH ONLY!! *Roast Pork 叉燒 $12/lb (after 20% off) I got about 1.8 pounds of their char siu this time, and it was enough to feed a family for two meals. The meat was well-seasoned, not overly salty or sweet, so we didn’t even add additional soy sauce. Remember to ask for ginger scallion sauce (薑蓉) as it really elevates the flavor and tastes delicious with rice. While I wouldn’t say it blew my mind, it is a pretty good deal for what you pay for as it’s cheaper than most Chinatown spots. It’s worth a try if you are in the area.
Stopped in here at around 4 PM on a Saturday. I love a good Cantonese BBQ meat spot where it's easy to order. All the prices and menu items are listed out, as well as the prices so you don't have to guess if they are overcharging you or not. I ordered a pound of the roast pork, and half a pound of the char siu and I have no complaints. You order at the front, and pay in the back - no frills, no thrills, quick and easy. Tip - cash only
