Datang Moxibustion(大唐艾灸）

They just open for a month. It’s a very clear and quiet space!!!! I’ve done moxibustion in China many times and this place is definitely a professional place! Their moxibustion sticks are at least 1 year old with excellent quality! It takes about 75 minutes to 90 minutes to finish a session and I feel recovered at all. This was my first time trying Datang Moxibustion, and it was an incredibly relaxing experience from start to finish. The establishment is very new and super clean, which immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. The staff was amazing—friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the process and shared helpful insights throughout the session, which I really appreciated as a first-timer. I went in with muscle tightness and back pain, and I could genuinely feel relief after the treatment. My body felt lighter, looser, and more balanced afterward. I didn’t know what to expect going in, but the entire experience exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be adding this to my regular routine for body care and long-term health maintenance. Highly recommend giving it a try, especially if you deal with muscle or back pain.

My session was relaxing. I sum it up as medicine sauna. Place was clean and friendly owners/staff. Great place to relax and have a break all while detoxing your body.

I visited Datang Spa in Flushing. It is a Moxibustion studio opened by a friend. Moxibustion is a staple of Chinese Traditional Medicine. It originally involved burning mugwort on or near the Prime Meridian points of the body. Datang Spa uses tables with up to 12 cones of mugwort on top of heated water. The client is asked not to shower for four hours before the treatment. They are also told to eat a full meal before the treatment. Upon arrival at the spa, the client soaks their feet in warm water treated with mugwort. They are offered cups of warm tea to drink throughout the treatment. After the foot soak, the client lies on the table wrapped snugly in towels, for 20 to 30 minutes on their back, and then 20 to 30 minutes on their chest. During the time the client is on the table, Datang’s staff checks on them regularly and offers warm tea to drink through a straw. At the end of the treatment the client tends to feel tired. They are fed some food, including fruit, bread, jerky, candy, and nuts, and is served more tea. The staff said how pleased they were with my production of perspiration, which is a compliment I have not received before. Moxibustion is similar to a sauna in that part of the object of the treatment is to sweat out foreign materials, such as toxins, metals, and microplastics. I was asked not to shower for four hours after the treatment. The client smells of mugwort after the procedure, which, while not unpleasant, is also not easily recognized. One of Datang’s clients was accused by his mother of smoking marijuana when he returned home. I did feel like treatment helps detoxify your liver somewhat. It was an interesting and pleasant experience. The staff also painted my fingernails, which was unexpected but they did very well.
