DD Soup Dumpling & Hibachi

Great new spot we found!! Everything was made fresh & tasted great!! Best soup dumplings I ever had! This is my new spot!! Scallion pancakes were great as well- I was never a fan & never understood why ppl like them, UNTIL NOW- Other places I had them just didn’t do it for me, be it too oily or taste was just off. This place changed my mind. Then had a soup & beef w/ broccoli, & a few sushi rolls which they knocked out of the park. We all were very happy with everything. Again, spur of the moment while out easy and this is our new place when we are in the area. As we were there many locals came in as well for lunch which tells ya something. Nice outside but inside is even better. You order with an iPad but the service is quick & friendly.

The food is delicious with generous portions. You order via iPad, which is on each table, which also shows the picture of what you are ordering (and you can search for items as well). Take out is easy as well and the food is hot too. They also have hibachi in the back, which is both entertaining and delicious.

It was a pleasant surprise. The outside doesn’t look like much. But the inside was really new & modern looking. The food was good. It was a crowd pleaser with all the different Asian choices. They has all our kids favorites. We didn’t do hamachi this time but it looked like a lot of fun from the other tables. I got a special roll with mango & it was just alright. The texture was just mushy & bland. I’m surprise that the shredded sweet potato topping didn’t help add anything special. Plus they forgot to bring this dish out until close to when the dessert dishes came out. My family was almost done with their meal before I got my order. We went back during a later time and the floor was not swept. I stepped on a piece of broccoli as I went to sit down at a booth. The hot & sour soup is a bit on the spicier side with added hot chili oil. The pork noodle soup with mustard green also had a little kick, a bit too spicy for my son.

Tried this place for the first time and the experience was amazing! The food is flavorful and comes out from the kitchen very quickly. My favorite items were the chicken soup dumplings and shrimp fried rice. Service is great and you get seated pretty quickly. The venue is really nice and aesthetically pleasing. Parking is somewhat limited but overall great experience - I would definitely recommend trying it.

So … there’s a lot going on with soup dumplings, dim sum, and hibachi for those who frequent dining at separate restaurants for these specific foods. I expected them to ask me which cuisine I was looking for but nope. It’s an all-in-one. Your menu is on an iPad that they open for you to choose what you want to eat. Just an FYI - your hibachi at dimsum hours does not come with the show. Anyway, after ordering on the iPad, someone comes around to confirm your order. The service is nice. The food, unfortunately, was not. I ordered at least one dish from dimsum, soup dumplings, and hibachi and none of them stood out to me. The dim sum lacked flavor. It was like it was bought at a supermarket and just steamed in their kitchen to serve. Honestly, if you’ve had soup dumplings at OG places in queens, this place is lacking. Again, I found the soup dumpling not only bland, but quite small. The hibachi also lacked seasoning. The miso soup was too salty. The side of fried rice was … hard. Tasted more than a day’s old rice if I’m being honest. The shrimp in the hibachi was overcooked. The steak could’ve had some salt and pepper seasoning. Not a lot, but just a tad bit to give it flavor. The kani salad was a sharing dish just so you know. I think the only food item I enjoyed was my Thai iced tea. I wasn’t served hot tea like the other tables, but I don’t know if it was something I was supposed to order? Tried looking on the menu for it, but it wasn’t there. Other than that, the decor is very inviting and bright. Unfortunately, I won’t be revisiting since the food was not the best and it was quite expensive.
