Elmhurst Art Museum

Omg this place is amazing! I have taken two classes here and have really enjoyed learning new skills and techniques in a calm and peaceful setting. I did the advanced kintsugi class and it was awesome learning that art of repairing something with gold leaf, then took a ceramics class. I focused mainly on hand building but had an amazing teacher that helped me build cool vessels. I am excited to take more classes in the studio here. Karly does an awesome job coordinating them.

Fun spot to check out, really interesting exhibit on sustainable food sourcing going on currently. I felt the $18 admission for was pretty steep for a local college art museum… that being said proceeds go toward art education which I am all for! Support local.

Recently visited here and had a nice, relaxing, interactive, and creatively invigorating experience. I visited on a Saturday around noon. Not sure if its just the time or day that I decided to come but there wasn't a ton of people which was nice as I felt I got to soak in the exhibitions a lot more. There is a fee for entry to the gallery and students/kids get a discounted rate. The staff at the front desk were super friendly and explained the layout and exhibitions very well. And while it's a smaller gallery, there does feel like a lot to explore. When I visited there was a group exhibition called Sustenance & Land. Some of the work was interactive like smelling different types of soil or flipping through a recipe book. Would be a great place for kids around ages 10 and up as you could more personally engage with the works. You could really feel and see the heart and work the artists were putting into these pieces, always a joy to visit a gallery. There was also a volunteer exhibition. Those pieces were actually on sale which was interesting and there was a community project to fold cranes which will be used in a project honoring an artist. I folded one... can't say that it's any good LOL. There's also a small little gift shop at the entrance and seating next to a wall of windows. The gallery is also next to a library and park so overall it's a place/area with such a peaceful ambiance. Overall had a great time here and would definitely visit again and recommend to others!!

Absolutely loved this place. They have a gallery in the museum where you can purchase the art and support local artists. The gallery is free to enter, but the art exhibits (side from the outside art) require an entrance fee. They change out the art every couple of months.

It’s a very nice museum space with plenty of light and glass. I visited Picasso exhibit and honestly expected a lot more for a $18 dollar entrance fee. Very few Picasso pictures or objects on loan unfortunately. I think if the price was lower, it would have been more reasonable considering the number of rooms and objects. Interested to see what other exhibits they have in the future, hopefully something a little better curated.
