Elmhurst Hospital Center Emergency Room

I recently went in for an emergency stomach pain and had my appendix removed here, and despite hearing mixed reviews about the hospital, I personally had a great experience. The doctors and nurses were professional throughout my entire stay. The only downside was the long wait times and the fact that the hospital is clearly overcrowded, which made it extremely slow. However, once I was being treated, the quality of care from the medical team more than made up for it. I went in at 11 a.m. and was discharged the next day at 10 a.m. that’s 13 hours in a hospital. During that time I felt well cared for and supported. A huge shout out to all the workers here as I understand that they’re overworked and stressed. Overall, I’m very grateful to the staff for making a stressful situation much easier. Specially I want to thank David my overnight nurse I wish I had the name of my Doctor Who did the procedure as well as the anesthesiologist and everyone who attended me they were very, very nice, but I would advise if you’re not having a serious life-threatening medical issue or if your not in severe pain please go to another hospital as they will attend you there may be a bit faster.

After reading these reviews I had to say my piece here. I stepped into the elmhurst hospital emergency room 11/16/25 with signs of a stroke and lost vision. Dr. Tran and a boat load of nurses attended me in less than 2 minutes. They checked all of my vitals and had me on blood thinners and heart monitors within the first 15 minutes of my arrival. I was very grateful and impressed. I ended up staying in the ER for a full day where all of the nurses stayed on top of my vitals and made sure I got an MRI and cat scan. Dr. Felipe Ayala made sure that my ekg was fully explained and he provided the next steps for treatment. I think Helen Arteaga Landaverde is doing an excellent job with this hospital. The last time I was there was when my daughter was born (26 years ago) and it has changed so much. Thank you elmhurst hospital er staff for helping me during a really tough time. I appreciate you all.

Dislocated my shoulder in the morning on 09/29/25. I was in a lot of pain, and they treated me exceptionally quickly, about 2 hours in and out at most. Nurses and Drs. were very kind and efficient, thank you!

This is a poorly ran emergency room. We were here since 2:30AM (it is now 7:30AM), and they are slow playing us getting adequate medical care as a disabled patient. If you want to know why we need AI and robots to replace some of these people, look no further than the Elmhurst Hospital emergency room. The worst kind of service, is when providers make the simple, complicated.

Horrible wait time, they just want to drain your insurance and as a result they will keep you waiting for a simple test. I been waiting for over 5 hours and still I haven’t seen the doctor or got the test I needed to get the treatment as soon as possible. They delayed my registration process, seeing the nurse, the doctor, to get tested, and to be treated. I still don’t know how many more hours I have to continue waiting after 5 hours of waiting and not getting to see a doctor. Moreover, the ER waiting rooms are dirty, unsanitary, and NOT up-kept. Patient information and HIPPA violations are everywhere you look with patients health contains and diseases are being communicated in the open hallways. Elmhurst Hospital looks like from the 3rd world, not the 1st world. I can’t even imagine what will happen to Elmhurst hospital in the next decade or so. This hospital will turn into waste if they continue at this unprofessional and unsanitary conditions. I also included some pictures of the hospital I was able to take with this rating. In addition, you don’t need to wonder why this elmhurst hospital turned into a Covid epicentre because they turned it into the epicentre by lack of care, and unprotected beds, and unprofessional staff. I can go on and on. Literally the entire hallways in the ER are all filled with patients, it’s like as if WW3 is taking place at this hospital.
