One of the most beautiful train stations in New York City. Extremely easy to get to and from Manhattan via the Long Island Rail Road with just 1 or 2 stops to/from either Grand Central Terminal (Madison Concourse) or Penn Station in about 15 minutes, depending on the train. When you exit the station into Station Square (if arriving from Manhattan), the view of the square, the architecture, and the sky all around is truly charming. The Tudor Revival architecture, along with other elements of the English Renaissance, is designed to resemble a medieval village square, and it incorporates features like gables, dormer windows, arcades, and wrought-iron lanterns to create a charming and picturesque atmosphere. The station itself always feels very safe and relatively clean. I am not a commuter so I cannot speak to the commute crowd, but the station is usually not very crowded during most hours aside from concert nights at Forest Hills Stadium.

My sister and I had taken the LIRR to and from this station. This is a 4 track with 2 side platforms and that there were people waiting for the train to come to get on and get off. This station is under construction on the weekends to make it 10 cars platforms and accessible.

I like very much this station because it’s a great charming place ! If you’re needing a shopping trip or hungry good are the there’s. .. Helpful hint for getting between the Long Island or Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn or Penn Station in Manhattan on weekends is better prices, LIRR CityTicket, good only on day of purchase. Very beautiful station! Clean and quiet, It doesn’t look like it could be NYC but it is. And only about 15 minutes and you’re already in grand central or penn station.
