My husband called this business to ask about getting a document notarized and was told the fee would be $30, which is far above the legal limit of $2 for standard notarizations in New York State. When he pointed out that this isn’t the standard fee, the person on the phone responded by saying he was "busy" and abruptly ended the call. This kind of overcharging is illegal and the dismissive attitude was completely unprofessional. Notaries in New York are bound by law to charge no more than $2 for most standard services, unless it's for a specific service like remote notarization. We will be reporting this business to the New York Department of State for attempting to charge an unlawful fee. Be aware of your rights before agreeing to notary services, especially when something doesn’t sound right.
