I always loved the soul warming Chinese cuisine from NYC the past 40 years. I am back in my city from wondering around the world and always so thrilled to find an old time Chinese eatery. Yesterday I stopped for the first time at The Golden Fountain Kitchen located in private nook. I was in Chinese heaven. The food was fantastic and the owner was so friendly, polite and so welcoming. There is a very comfortable seating area. The atmosphere is serene and pleasant. This is my place to eat and also feed my soul. 𝓣𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓴 𝔂𝓸𝓾 🙏
Two consecutive 1-star reviews that start with "I usually don't post/review" ? Yea, OK... Anyway I have been going to this place for years. It's a bit out of the way since I am from Ozone Park but it's totally worth the trouble. Their food is fresh. You will notice right away when you order a beef fried rice and wonder why it tastes so good. The rice and lo mein are both fantastic and don't taste like any other Chinese take out. Their crab meat sticks are awesome too. But the real star is their Wortip Wontons. I have yet to find a place anywhere else I've been, in and out of NYC, that serves this. It's hard to explain but think of a wonton soup dumpling that is pan fried in a savory dark brown sauce. It is my favorite dumpling and it's 12 for ~$5. It's a must try since no one else makes it.
Pretty standard Chinese food restaurant. The food took about 10 minutes so that was pretty quick. The food tasted good and fresh. The staff was efficient but not so friendly, which isn’t too uncommon. All in all, I give this place four stars because the food was good but not the best that I have had.
Alright, here we go. So, I've been eating at this restaurant as a takeout for over seven years and I thought this was the time I'd write a review as a summary of my opinion over the course of seven years. Personally, I like the speed they cook the food. It is fast, quick, and efficient. The restaurant is always clean and I see people sit down and enjoying their meals at the tables. However, the staff don't really have smiles on their faces as if they don't want to be here. In addition, the food is sometimes really salty, or there is just too much sauce, (example: soy sauce) Overall, what I'm trying to say is that the place is efficient and clean, but the food isn't the best, it could be better!
Just ordered for old times sake. Disappointed. Like others have mentioned, the quality is not as high as in the past. I used to order from this place three times a week. I have/ had been a customer for 54 years. Gasp! But only order when I think the food I am getting can’t be screwed up. I shouldn’t have done it. Their recipes changed about two decades ago. These were time tested and well liked recipes. Yes, they used to make their own egg rolls. On Wednesdays. I’d go then to order a couple. They were large, made on the premises and delicious. Not like the crap they sell you now. The roast pork slices and ends that used to be tender and scrumptious had the recipe of the sauce changed. From delicious to this blah dish they make now. Sad. Where is the flavor the chefs used to impart in their food! Chefs change but the recipes never should have been toyed with. The folks who eat there now have no idea what they’re missing. I am glad they can enjoy it. But it is garbage. Not worth it. I remember calling to ask why the recipes changed after thirty five plus years. The answer was a dumb one and not worth relating. I am guessing at some point new owners came in and gummed up the works. To bad. If you do order, remember to insist they put your food into the old fashioned carton containers so the hot, searing food is not melting and gassing off in the plastic containers they put the hot food in now. Idiocy.
