We usually go to the Flushing location and we love it. This new location is awesome, the service was incredible, from the hostess to our servers, Mauricio and Kirch went above and beyond, amazingly on point! Kind, friendly, polite, and attentive to every detail. The meat was fresh and delicious. I've read a couple of reviews where people complain that the corn doesn't have cheese; it does, it's just melted. You have to wait for it to cool down so you can enjoy its creaminess. As always, the harami was the star. We had AYCE (All You Can Eat).
We cannot say enough amazing things about our waitress, Sai (please forgive us if we’re spelling her name wrong). We’ve been lucky enough to have her twice, and both experiences were outstanding. She is incredibly attentive, friendly, and truly goes above and beyond to make sure every part of the meal is perfect. Her customer service alone is a reason for us to keep coming back. We’re also so grateful for the LIC location—it’s much more convenient for us than the Flushing one, and it’s become our go-to spot. Every visit has been 100% worth it, from the quality of the food to the excellent service. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is welcoming and professional, and the atmosphere is warm, cozy, and perfect for enjoying a great meal. We will absolutely be returning many more times and highly recommend this location to anyone considering a visit!
Satisfies our bbq cravings, glad this opened in LIC. Great if you don’t mind cooking the meat yourself. Although I would say, ordering from their cooked dishes on the menu are also still very good if you don’t want to grill yourself
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ is one of my favorite places to go. We came here with my mom and my fiancé. My mom lives in LIC, and this location is literally across the street from her place, so we decided to try it instead of going to Flushing, where we usually go. The food was good and still very enjoyable. That said, the vibe here feels a bit different compared to the Flushing location—maybe it’s newer, or it just hasn’t fully settled yet. Overall, a solid spot with good food and a convenient location. I’d definitely come back, especially being so close by.
I’ve been to many Gyu-Kaku locations both in and outside of NYC, but this was by far the worst one. I now understand why it wasn’t busy, even in such a highly Asian neighborhood. All the meats were tough, extremely thin, old, and had a strange texture, like they’d been frozen for too long and thawed too quickly. Out of the nine or so types of meat we ordered, maybe one or two were edible; the rest were just bad. The service could’ve been ok, but the server who brought our meats (different from the one who took our order) kept throwing the dishes onto the table. He wasn’t overtly rude, but he literally threw every single dish down. The rice was also dry, hard, and tasted old. It tasted like it hadn’t been cooked with enough water. Overall, I would never go back. If you care about your money and want a decent dining experience, I strongly suggest going elsewhere.
