House of the Red Pearl

If you’re anywhere near the South Street Seaport, House of the Red Pearl is a must. Tucked away in the back of a storefront, the space feels like a well-kept secret, stylish, energetic, and buzzing for a reason. It books up quickly, but if you stop in on a whim, grab one of the bar seats reserved for walk-ins and consider yourself lucky. The menu hits a sweet spot between comfort and curiosity. Everything carries the familiar flavors of a Chinatown visit, but with a creative, adventurous edge that keeps things exciting without losing authenticity. From start to finish, the execution is dialed in, and the service is just as sharp as the food. The cocktails are also top-notch and save room for dessert!

While in the city this past weekend I took my girlfriend down to the South Street Seaport. Although disappointed by the seaport not being what it was 30 years ago as I remember with all the cute little shops, Pier 17 provided great restaurant selection. After checking each and every one, we settled on House of the Red Pearl. Very glad we did. A little slow start as far as service but in the end it was made up for. We ordered two starters, the fried calamari and the chicken potstickers. The GF enjoyed the calamari and was pleasantly surprised with the accompanying lime puree. The potstickers were nothing to brag about until they were dipped in their pepper sauce...wow! We ended our meal by sharing a Garlic Ginger Chicken dish. Absolutely yummy! The best kept secret in the Tin Building! 🤫 Speakeasy style, great for date nights! Crystal was our server & she was outstanding, as well as the rest of the team! All dishes came out fast, fresh & delicious! They are not afraid of spice, nor heat. If you need a little extra, ask for their chili powder, it's delicious! Dumplings were tender, generously filled & paired with a delicious chili oil. The fried calamari was very lightly flash fried, not greasy at all. The ginger scallion topping was amazing. The chilled sesame noodles were okay. It could've benefitted with the addition of some crushed, roasted peanuts, as it lacked depth of flavor & texture. The black bean spare ribs were charred & lean. No grizzle or fat & not overly sweet. The star of the feast was their black pepper Wagyu beef noodle dish! Add some chili powder to it & you'll be in spicy heaven! 😋 The Wagyu melted in your mouth & the noodles had the perfect chew. The grand finale was their fortune cookie 🥠 sundae w/ fortune cookie ice cream, sesame crunch pieces, fudge on the bottom & marshmallow fluff pillows. Highly recommend, especially for special occasions!

I went to this lovely restaurant with my friends to celebrate Lunar New Year and the service staff were one of the most loveliest people I have ever met. Not only was the food delicious, but the drinks were amazing! The atmosphere was beautiful and it was overall such a great place to be in!

When you arrive upstairs you will see what looks like a mini Asian market shop , the restaurant is found when passing a doorway with a red fan. Once inside you are greeted with a stunning decor and servers eager to make your dining experience memorable !
