Ian Chan MD PC Ophthalmology and Retina Surgery

I'm sure the other review is telling the truth, but I had an efficient visit and was referred to another specialist. The doctor was genuine in character and asked why I would come when he had a bad review. He was clear in explaining my issue to me. I am thankful to have met him.

The doctor is very concerned about his patients and very knowledgeable. I have been very happy with his care of my eyesight. He is very responsive and pleasant.

Avoid this clinic. They are running this office like a mom and pop shop. I took my mother for her eye surgery and the office manager, or his wife was asking for money on top of insurance claim. Stay away for your own good.

CANT BE TRUSTED Horrible experiences with my mother. First time appointment to see the doctor was at 10AM, the doctor didn't show up until 12PM, which concluded to a long line of patients. Finally get to see the doctor at 1:30PM. The doctor was nice with all the sweet talk about the Vitreoretinal surgery, telling us his success rate and how he "cares." We decided to go with the doctor for the surgery. He said his office will be in contact a week before the surgery explaining everything. So I do my own research about the surgery so I'll know what to expect. The week before the surgery, attempted to call the office with questions regarding the recovery details. The receptionist picks up, doesn't know ANYTHING about the surgery and has the audacity to give me the incorrect information about the surgery, then I correct her and requested to speak to someone who knows about the surgery or if the doctor can call me back at his earliest convenience. The receptionist rudely responds saying the doctor is too busy to answer your questions, he will talk to you AFTER the surgery. I responded saying NO and demanded to speak to someone thats in charge, another person comes on the phone thats completely clueless about the surgery and tells me any questions will be answered AFTER the surgery. Decided to cancel the surgery with this doctor and looking for another. Overall, how can you trust your EYES with this doctor and his clueless receptionists? How can you rely on them if anything goes wrong, when you cant even get a simple answer days before a surgery?

This office's front desk staff and manager are surely something else. They are consistently the most condescending people I've spoken to. Dr. Chan was nice, but I don't want to go through the front desk to be felt less of a person every single time. I will find another provider.
