My first time trying hot pot and man what an amazing experience!! Such a great atmosphere and amazing food!! The Jaew Hon broth was superb and the sauces for the soup and bbq were phenomenal!
This Thai hot pot spot in Queens is a hidden gem! The price is great and the food is super tasty. The variety is impressive, with plenty of fresh meat and seafood options. The highlight for me is the yen-ta-fo soup — it’s the real star! Packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. Everything tastes fresh and authentic. Definitely one of my favorite spots for a comforting, delicious meal!
As echoed in some of the other reviews, the guy working there has a stank attitude and is rude. He came up multiple times to let us know when we had 15, 10, and 5 minutes left and finally that our time is up. Basically brought us the bill at exactly 90 minutes. Mind you it wasn't crowded or anything. Most places I've went to don't just shove you the bill at the exact time. So one of us left some amount for tip and he came back and said it's too little. It was on us; our friend was international so we upped the tip and gave it back to him. He comes back and rudely says "we don't want your tip, don't come back". We were confused and asked why. We showed him the increased amount which is now 15%, and he didn't apologize and trailed off about some calculation that it's less than some percent. I realized he was looking at the tip % based on post tax, which is wrong. And they are a cash only place too. It's not even like they're offering a cash discount or anything, they charge the full tax, and then he has the audacity to try to charge more on tip. You can really sense the hate and greed coming from the guy. If you go there and he's working, just turn around and go to any of the many delicious restaurants nearby. I will not give that guy another penny. The food delicious and the atmosphere is okay at least. But if you're willing to travel further there's other Thai hotpots that aren't going to treat you rudely.
Husband and I used to love this spot. Really enjoy the food and the sauces. However, we came recently and it was a really different experience than before. For one, they now serve you mango salad + 2 small spring rolls cut in half + small chopped chicken nuggets on the house (while it's nice, it's not needed). Another difference is that they used to bring you the meats and the veggies but now the veggies/noodles/fish balls are self-service. This place has always been cash only though. This was all fine and dandy, honestly. But what ruined the experience for me was being charged a 20% tip, mandatory, within my bill, with room to add extra tip. Their menu (where you choose what meats you want) states 20% gratuity is automatically added for parties of 5 or more. So why were we charged 20% gratuity when it's just 2 of us dining in? That felt incredibly shady and underhanded. When we asked about it, they made it seem like this is the norm. Makes no sense to me. We've happily paid 20% tip in the past but IT WAS A CHOICE. I don't appreciate being mandated to tip 20% with room to add extra gratuity. Hence the 2 stars. Being upfront with your customers is part of any business' integrity.
⭐ One Star – Worst Dining Experience We’ve Had in a Long Time We came as a family of four adults and one 6-month-old baby. We expected a relaxing dinner, but instead we ended up feeling stressed, rushed, and honestly — disrespected. ❌ What went wrong: • The entrance is filled with CASH ONLY signs and a “store policy” written in text so tiny it’s nearly impossible to read. • It’s AYCE, but there’s a time limit that they never mentioned until halfway through the meal. • We were repeatedly rushed by staff even though there were NO people waiting for a table. • The second round of meat was much poorer quality and came in larger portions — it felt like they intentionally wanted us to leave food so they could charge extra. • They tried to charge $25 for leftovers, and still wouldn’t allow us to take it to-go. • The most outrageous part? They attempted to charge a service fee for our 6-month-old baby, who was held the entire time and received zero service. ⚠️ Final Thoughts This wasn’t just disappointing — it was frustrating and unfair. We will never return, and we strongly advise others to think twice before dining here. “Customers deserve transparency and respect – unfortunately, we experienced neither here.”
