Awesome experience! The staff and projects are also remarkable. Visit!
What a treat! I'm a life long new Yorker who grew up in the bronx and never knew this museum existed . Not a big blues music fan the only song I knew of Louis Armstrong was a wonderful world. My wife and I visited this museum. We began across the street at the Armstrong center. It's not huge but has a lot of memorabilia of his life and music. There are listening devices to use to experience his music .I remember the tickets for the house museum was sold out but a black American man was very kind and was able to add us to the house tour. This gentleman was also a tour guide. while he stated he was now a manager and had not guided for a while ,he was amazing as he got back into his groove. We got out in front of the house and there were another tour in front of us He explained the house had add ons since his death and the death of his wife later. But the house next door is a story in itself the women died and left her house to the museum. That story was moving. As we entered it was tight and we started in the living room. Left the way his wife left it a moment in time. Upstairs was really tight because he used a motor chair to get up.but the most emotional was his Upstairs office as the tour guide played the recording of Armstrongs voice. I watch as man openly cried. You could hear a pin drop. The kitchen was supposed to be the kitchen of the future. And the bedroom where he died in his sleep was pretty much left stuck in time. The story of his house keeper and his wife last conversation with her is something to hear.
We had an amazing time at the Louis Armstrong House Museum today! It's a true gem right here in Queens. The experience is split into two parts: a guided tour of his actual home, which is filled with incredibly moving stories about his life, and a modern building across the street that serves as a high-tech jazz museum. The multimedia exhibits and the jazz room are fantastic—I honestly had no idea Queens had such a rich jazz history. The tour was light, fun, and lasted about two hours. Our guide was top-notch and kept everyone engaged the whole time. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike
This was an amazing glimpse of Louis Armstrong’s home. Everything is well preserved. The guided tour was very informative.
The house looks unassuming on the outside but is beautifully decorated and well maintained. You have to join a guided tour to view it. The exhibition party is kinda small but informative. Admission price could be lower
