I paid a visit to Dr. Maxim Tyorkin’s office on October 2, 2019 with a knee issue I had been struggling with for weeks. I had informed the doctor about the excruciating pain I had been experiencing that kept me up at night. The doctor sent me to get an X-ray taken on my knee and hip, which I did immediately after the appointment. Before leaving the office, I paid my co-pay and asked the staff at the front desk whether or not I should make another appointment for next week to get the results and doctor’s further opinion. To my surprise, I was informed no appointment would be necessary and that the doctor would call me next week with the results and treatment options. Sine the X-ray was just across the street from the office, I decided to stop by again to see if maybe the doctor would be able to call me the same day since the results would be ready. I was told he would leave before that would happen and, once again, told he would contact me over the phone with no appointment necessary. The second visit I was met with both the front staff and the office manager, whose name I think was Doris. A week later, on Tuesday, October 8, I was called by the front desk staff to ‘confirm an appointment’ that was setup on Wednesday - exactly 24 hours later. Confused, I told them about the conversation we had and how I was told the appointment would not be necessary, to which she replied, “Oh, yes, I remember you. You came by two times when the manager was here. I don’t know why they said you did not have to have an appointment. The only way you can get the results and treatment options is if you come in tomorrow.” I was vexed by the fact that an appointment was made without me ever being informed about it, nor ever asking me whether or not I would be available. Instead of apologizing and trying to reschedule, I was spoken to like a lesser human, being told to come in if I want to receive any treatment. I then asked to talk to the manager, slowly getting furious. When the manager picked up the phone, all she said was, “I don’t know who you are. I have never spoken to you. The doctor cannot give you the results over the phone, it is against the law. I don’t care whether you are available to take the day off work or not. If you need treatment, come in tomorrow and stop complaining,” after which she hung up the phone. Now, I have been in the medical business for almost 20 years. I have plenty of experience dealing with customers and I, most certainly, know the law. The doctor could ask me for my SSN to confirm my identity, after which the results could have easily been given to me. Plus, my physics already requested the results of the X-ray, so I only needed to be scheduled for the proper procedure with the orthopedist. Though this part is not the most upsetting. First, I was misinformed. Then, they scheduled an appointment without me. When I said there was no way I could come in, I was screamed at instead being apologized to. I told them I had to request a day off a week in advance, to which they simply replied they did not care. No one on the other line ever attempted to reconcile or tried to schedule another appointment. I was spoken to like they were doing me a favor. Typically, I do not write reviews, but this truly deserved one. After I told them about the unbearable pain I was experiencing, the inability to come in on one-day notice, I was screamed at like a child. Due to these circumstances, I cannot say anything about the doctor himself, but the staff are the worst I have ever come across. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor with staff that know how to speak, not bark, and trust me, you will thank me.
