Monster Aquarium Inc - Shop in Queens New York

First time visiting this aquarium and I got 12 green neon tetras and two Amano shrimps. They all look pretty healthy and happy in the tank. The owner was very communicative about new fish arrivals so I was able to get them as soon as they arrived.

I live about 10 hours away and cannot wait to visit in person, but have gotten fish shipped to me twice and they've all been going strong for a couple years now, had to make another purchase and was not disappointed. Such a vast selection of beautiful healthy fish, I cannot rave enough about this place. Purchased 6 gold laser cw010 last time, ordered 8 more and they even sent me an extra🥹 great prices and they most likely have that one suddenly rare fish you've been searching for.

Tough one to reivew because I am pretty mixed here. I went there yesterday for my 11 yo son who has been wanting to go for weeks. There collection is impressive and they seem to care and treat the aquatic animals right! Getting in and out of the store was difficult as there was a lot of boxes right in the entrance/exit. Ideally, those boxes would not be in the way but maybe they had issues that particular day. You cant tell at first but the store is huge; there is awhole different floor full of tanks. We loved the lady that helped us, she was kind to us, helpful and knowledgable. There was another lady with silver/ dyed long hair who was extremely rude and unpleasant in general. I avoided saying anything to her as I was with my family and sometimes its just not worth it. Honestly its not acceptable to be like that in general especially in customer service. Hope she gets the help she needs. If she was not so awful we probably would've walked out of there with other purchases.

Theres a lot to unpack here, so lets start with the positive! Def one of the best fish and variety i seen, and personally loved the animals they carry. If you know what youre getting then you should be fine. However… if youre someone like me who started going here and new to the hobby, you may be discouraged. Unfortunately besides the guy that works there, the rest come off extremely rude and dismissive. Now as someone who loves animals, I belive working in a pet shop should be a way to encourage hobbyists and bring them more joy- not suck their passion away and leave them feeling stupid (not only for money either). People should really think about the place they are working in and what it entails to the people coming there. What I do like is that the animals seem to be kept in reasonable conditions. 🐟🐠 Kind of iffy if i would go there again tbh, if you dont like working there you should prolly rethink your choices. (Your attitude shouldnt contingent on how “busy” the store may be- allegedly). And no not all pet stores are like this, I have a couple go to stores now who guided my startup and now i dont mind driving further just to go to their store instead ✌🏽

EDITED December 24th 2025 After a long couples months I finally received my money back. Had to file claims through my bank. Don’t recommend business here as I will also keep spreading the word as you guys did me very wrong! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY AS THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT KIND OF FISH THEY ARE SELLING OR THEY JUST DONT CARE!! RIDICULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I ordered albino Chinese perch, 2 long nose gar, 1 red chili Oscar’s, 1 lemons and a retropennis. After I placed the order they called me a couple days later letting me know they where out of stock on the Chinese perch, I agreed on swapping it out for a red spot severum and 1 more lemon and 1 more chili Oscar. When I received the package I noticed that something was off. My retropennis bichir was not a retropennis it was a telgelsi bichir so they sent me the wrong bichir. I also noticed that my long nose gar where not long nose gar but they are Florida gar which is also the wrong gar. On top of all that my chili Oscar that where labeled as 2 inches where around 1.5 inches which is another mislabel. I called to get something figured out and clearly I’m upset because I just spent 380$ on fish that were not the right fish. When I let the lady know I’m not sure her name. She proceeded to tell me that I was wrong and those where the right fish and that if you scroll 3 photos over on there website where it’s label they show a picture of a couple different kinds of fish and one happened to be the fish they sent me. In my opinion. That is extremely shady and misleading. Very unfortunate as I have many tanks and have many friends with tanks that would have loved to shop at your store. Response to your reply Yes I have made multiple reviews because you guys never got back to me through the email I sent you that you told me to send you. You still haven’t take responsibility that you sold me different gar that what is listed and different bichir that what is listed. I want my money back for the mislabeled fish, completely different fish than what you said they are. It says alot about you and your shady business practices.
