My daughter attended Murray Hill Chinese School for eight years. We really enjoyed the community, learning Mandarin and Chinese culture. We celebrated festivals, enjoyed the food vendors and made Saturday school part of our lives. Thanks Murray Hill!

Joined the school when my oldest son was in kindergarten. After 15 years, still have my youngest son registered because the whole family enjoy the experience there. It's operated by volunteers, completely relying on parents participation. If you like serving and interacting with people, you'll enjoy it as much as your kids would. Heading into the 39th year of service it has had former students back as teachers or registered their children in classes. With an open mind, you can be part of the circle, too.

My children enjoyed their time in the academic program learning Mandarin. They have continued with the culture classes learning Chinese Yoyo and Culture Platter, which focuses on arts and crafts and calligraphy. They are also involved in the many lion dance, drumming and Kung Fu performances connected to the school because (full discoluseure) in addition to being a parent of students, I also run the Kung Fu and lion dance programs for adults, children, and teens. My kids are not in my own class, because they are learning Chinese Yo Yo and Culture Platter. Most of all they enjoy seeing friends. Murray Hill Chinese School is actually a communituy of many programs and services from Adult Mandarin classes, food pickup, Tai Chi, Zumba, Community Basketball, Community Volleball, Ping Pong, Badmitton and of course the programs which I run, Lion Dance and Kung Fu. Our community is pretty diverse, open and affordable. It is also volunteer run. People come from various parts of NJ to participate in the many different programs offered. There is plenty of parking, and Watchung Hills Regional Highschool, where the MHCS programs are held from 12:30 until 3:30 on Saturdays, is easy to get to.

This is our daughter's second year attending Murray Chinese School, and we've been very happy with the experience so far. She genuinely enjoys going each week, especially looking forward to the culture class, which has become her favorite part of the program. The school does a great job incorporating fun and educational activities throughout the year. Our daughter has participated in several events like the Chinese New Year performace, and drawing contest,—all of which have helped boost her confidence and keep her engaged in learning Chinese in a meaningful way. The balance between language instruction and cultural enrichment has been just right for our family, and we really appreciate the efforts the staff and volunteers put into creating such a supportive and well-rounded environment. We’re excited to continue with the school and see how our daughter continues to grow in both Chinese language and culture.
