Murray Hill Playground

This playground in Flushing Queens is going through a renovation. It has a handball court 🖐, a jungle gym, & a fitness center area. For children 🧒 & adults 🧑 of all ages. There are plenty of benches to sit & read a book 📖 or people watch or just to relax & meditate 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️. .... JM.

This playground has a small playground area and a basketball court. There's a giant empty and unmarked area for general purpose - this should be filled in with pickleball, volleyball, or mini soccer with a track field around it. There's plenty of room on the side for table tennis Overall, it's a bit barren, but a starting point next to the school to relax

I've visited this playground several times. Unfortunately, there is too much open space with very little to offer. Kids can crash into one another in the large square placed in center of it all. Bikes, scooters, soccer balls, etc,. It is attached to a public school so in that regard I can see the need for "space." All the same, there isn't much for a child to explore in the jungle areas surrounding it's square. The locals are barely sociable or just flat out rude come sundown and the traffic is just as unpleasant.

Adults allow their four year olds play with fireworks and aim aimlessly and im not making this up. its totally cool and fine w letting their parents and grown ups holding the firework sticks up in the air to demonstrate to their children how fireworks explode or sparkle in a safe distance in the air to celebrate any holidays or occasions but letting some toddlers to hold those weapons carelessly is just unsafe for not just for the kid and their family but people around those firework users as well and those fireworks flew somewhat high as well. Maybe slightly more than six story building high . Its been some nights since the firework noise have been somewhat annoying but i am just concerned for our neighbor’s safety and I just wonder why cant they just go to a bigger park where they can play w fireworks more safer . There are apartments and houses near the park and so little rm to let ppl enjoy the park while letting some toddler aim near ppl not purposly once in a while. I see that the parent redirect the stick towards the air but the child still aims the firework stick canon back towards lower area . And There may be a very few annoying cat callers as well once in a while- especially at the bench areas at the edge but tbh uneducated cat callers are almost everywhere in ny. Just be careful. Other than that. It isa good small quiet and clean park

They removed the handball court and I'm completely upset.. it's a NYC street sport and there's a reason why people like myself and others use these courts. The issue also is that other handball courts are in need of remodeling, repainting, and smoothing out the ground. Let alone people who use these courts for other things not handball shouldn't be allowed to play.
