Needle & Stitch

Chana is a WIZARD with alterations! My little sister and I both went to her to have our bridesmaids' dresses altered for our brother's wedding. Her keen eye noticed small details that could be improved about each dress, such as how to improve the shape to flatter our figures, where boning had been put in the original dresses in the wrong direction, and she took her time correcting each of them so our dresses fit like gloves for the wedding! I was so comfortable and so impressed with her work. I highly recommend her to other bridesmaids wanting that perfect couture fit!

I have taken three Indian garments to Needle&Stitch: 1) Lehenga skirt with a complicated border and mirrored fabric that needed to be shortened 2) Sari blouse to replace the hooks with a zipper 3) Heavily beaded sari blouse whose armholes needed to be widened. Chana is such an expert, it is obvious during the fitting that she has an excellent understanding of clothing construction. She was also willing to spend a lot of time making sure the fit was pinned perfectly before beginning the alteration. I usually use an Indian tailor for my Indian clothes, but she did a significantly better job than anyone I've used in Jackson Heights. The prices are expensive, but they are worth it given the expertise, precision, and professional finishing. Attaching pictures to show the types of fabrics she was working with.

I had the most amazing time working with Hana! She totally transformed my wedding dress to fit my body perfectly while keeping the integrity of the design. What first blew me away was how quickly she whipped up a sketch of the dress so she could tailor it better. Hana also walked me through all of her plans for the dress and made me confident in her thought process. I really appreciated how she spent time to thoroughly strategize before making any changes. She is also such a pleasure to work with! She was flexible with me and did what she could to make our visits as seamless as possible. I really look forward to taking sewing classes from her as well!

Hana was incredible to work with! We were so lucky to have found her to help alter my wedding dress with just 3 weeks notice. She was very professional and welcoming and helped me feel comfortable for my first time getting alterations as well. As a queer couple it was so wonderful to find somewhere so welcoming in the neighborhood. Would 100% recommend and we will certainly be back with other items (with more notice!)

Chana was an absolute pleasure to work with. I came to her in crisis with a wedding dress I did not like the fit of. She put so much attention into making the dress into a skirt that fit perfectly, and even thought to use the fabric from the dress to make matching ties for the corset which pulled the whole look together! Could not recommend her services more!
