I don’t think I can go to any other salon in the city now — this place truly is the best, and I can’t recommend it enough! Jerry colored and trimmed my hair last weekend, and all I have are rave reviews. Not only is this the best hair color I’ve ever had, but the entire experience was so efficient — it didn’t take all day. I’m beyond impressed and will definitely be coming back!

This is the only salon I've been a customer at in the city. As an Asian American woman, I try to look for hairdressers who specialize in Asian hair or have tons of experience working with it. If you're just like me then look no further-- Jimmy at New City One Salon is one of the BEST. I actually discovered him through a Reddit thread in search of a new hairdresser (that's how you know he's good). While I haven't been serviced by the other members of the team, I have also seen excellent work from them too. CUT AND COLOR: Jimmy is insanely talented. I have regularly received haircuts from him and he does exactly what I want with confidence. I also recently decided to go platinum blonde and trusted that he could take care of that too. I was honestly worried since it was my first time/I came in with 100% virgin hair, but he literally dissolved my anxiety in the way he carried the conversation (he has YEARS of experience). The first day took about 8 hours for a global lift - the second day required one more lift and tone, about 5 hours - he thoughtfully used products that retained the quality of my hair while achieving the level 9 lift - each day Jimmy was extremely patient and skilled. Coming in for a root touch up, he was surprisingly quick and flexible with his schedule too. Jimmy is also very receptive to feedback and it is clear that he wants each customer to love the results. I came in with a few concerns regarding color unevenness and face framing precision, and he beautifully corrected that at the end (everyone's hair reacts to bleach/dye/tone differently so you must be an advocate for yourself). He is also exceptionally knowledgeable in haircare products to ensure you maintain your look, and urged me to DM him with any questions I had any time. At the end he always love to style my hair too and I always feel beautiful leaving the salon! Please also note that there is a mild language barrier, as there are with most services in Chinatown, so you must collaborate and be patient especially for a full transformation like platinum blonde. I highly recommend you come in for a consultation before this service to ease any nerves too. Some additional tips/things to know: - pay in CASH save $$ on fees - if going in for color, bring water/snacks and be proactive in the process. don't be afraid to ask questions and come in with your own questions, research and reference photos

Donny and Jimmy are very talented! Jimmy is a master with color and Donny truly is a master at hair styling. I’ve come here for both highlights and haircuts and I’ll keep coming back. I like a very ashy/cool blonde which is tricky because I have warm undertones. I was very pleased with the highlights Jimmy did for me last year. Donny nailed the hair cut I was looking for both times. I truly enjoy watching Donny work, he’s clearly passionate about his craft. The pictures today don’t do it justice. I recently had my hair bleached and dyed by Jimmy, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! My hair was in pretty rough shape when I came in, with three different colors from neglect. Jimmy took almost 8 hours to carefully and patiently restore and color my hair, and his professionalism really showed throughout the process. The results were fantastic—exactly what I wanted! The price was also very reasonable, and I feel like I got great value for my money. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Jimmy is incredible!! I’m usually very picky about picking a hair dresser because of my hair type but once I saw his reviews I didn’t think twice to book him. I’m a former blonde that went red a few months ago & finally needed a touch up. Jimmy truly took his time & made sure I was happy with my hair with each step. Prices were great as well. For a root bleach, overall color, cut & style, I paid $280 after tip. Highly recommend!!
