Nick is a great musician and a great teacher. He taught my kid guitar with so much patience and creativity. He made the lessons fun and exciting. Highly recommend!

I am a returning senior student who studied with Nick Russo over twenty years ago, as did my then teenage son. Then and now, Nick has been a knowledgeable and generous teacher. He is enthusiastic, encouraging, and patient. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks but Nick is certainly teaching me some. Since I have been playing guitar for almost 60 years, technique is not our main focus. What Nick has been helping me develop and improve is my ear. He is enabling me to hear more, sing more, and play more interesting music. I am optimistic that with Nick’s guidance I will achieve my goals. Having had experience as a student of Nick’s and as a parent of a student of Nick’s, I highly recommend Nick Russo as a teacher.

Nick Russo loves music and he shares that passion for sounds with my son Mico, who has been his guitar student for a few years now. Nick’s emphasis on learning and practicing scales has helped Mico to improve his focus and technique. We also appreciate how much Nick has encouraged Mico to perform live and with other musicians. Nick’s belief in Mico’s ability to learn and improve is great to see and very encouraging. We are delighted to have Nick Russo as Mico’s guitar instructor.

I was taking lessons from Nick for a while and was absolutely happy about it, but due to lack if time had to stop. However when time came for my son to pick up a guitar and start learning, it was no-brainer! I was confident that Nick is a best teacher in the whole NY Greater Area. Nick is naturally born teacher who doesn’t throw at you dry theory, he listens and adjusts to your needs and desires, he provides you with best possible advise to get you playing and most important enjoying it. Every lesson with him is a gift, and my son is gaining confidence and skills by the minute. After working with Nick just through 10 lessons he is able to listen a piece of music and play it by ear. That is absolutely amazing!

I can’t say enough about how gifted a teacher Nick Russo is. Having taught college students myself for 30 plus years, I appreciate how challenging it can be to tailor lessons to individuals who come to a class or school with varied backgrounds and expectations. Nick is a master at what I believe is the most important aspect of teaching any subject, and that is reaching students where they are. I am a great example of this, having begun these lessons late in life with no musical background. Nick has encouraged me to follow my interests, which is my case is the Blues. I don’t think, however, that there is a musical genre Nick is unfamiliar with. I have heard him play live, so I can attest to his brilliance as a jazz guitarist. Finally, I want to add that Nick is exceedingly patient and kind. Students who have the opportunity to work with this professional musician, whose knowledge of the history of music, music theory, and the practical application of that theory would do well to seize that opportunity. They will surely count themselves lucky.
