NYU Langone Medical Associates - Astoria Cardiology

Dr. Arun Palkhiwala is extremely competent , experienced, professional , and one of the most dedicated cardiologist in New York . Dr. Palkhiwala's entire Office Staff is attentive , polite , responsive , and very knowledgeable in their field. Furthermore, his Physician Assistant Marika is also very knowledgeable, and dedicated and always responds to my phone calls. It is my pleasure to recommend such superb doctors to my family and friends.

I am extremely upset with Dr. Arun Pakiwala. I went there a few months ago and had an echocardiogram done. My report came back as my right heart ventricle dilated along with moderate pulmonary hypertension. well, I have had many sleepless nights. Dr Pakiwala did not go over any of my findings regarding my echo on my follow up visit. he told me everything looks fine and come back in a year. I was the one who read my report and addressed the Hypertension. He told me yeah you have it your ok. And I asked him if I should be finding a specialist to go to. he said if I want I could go to a valve specialist I could. What kind of answer is this? And how come he did not read any of my notes? He had a lady sitting next to him typing in all of his notes and scrolling my chart in the computer. He really needs to retire ASAP. ended up, I seen another dr and got certain tests done to confirm the echo findings were false. I truly feel bad for all of his other patients who have their full trust in him. Please find another cardiologist.

About 9 mins for nurse to test my weight and blood and regular EKG. Then doctor visited about 8mins, no any conclusions. Final statement charged to my insurance is 990+ dollars and with a claim called office visit 45-60 mins. I totally understand I need to pay after the insurance paid. But I was shocked about 1000 dollars for a office visit about 20mins. They declined to provide any proofs for “45-60”. After visiting doctor, I even waited front desk about 20 mins. I should charge it back. DON’T come here.

My relative goes to Dr. Arun Palkhiwala. Don't know how he is with others, but his bed side manner with my family member is disrespectful and passive. I've accompanied my relative on many appointments with him and every time I had a concern or a question he acted as if he was annoyed or insulted by it. He didn't take kindly to me speaking up in behalf of my relative either, although my relative is elderly and hard of hearing. Dr. Arun may be skilled in his field, but he needs to have refresher courses in patient morale 🤨😤😠

I went for annual check up. I was very clear on the phone and when arriving at the office on that point. Such a visit with my insurance is with $0 copay The doctor charged me for a specialist visit with over 50 dollars, ($15 visit copay 1st, after a month another $15 and the doctor office changed the visit to a specialist visit, $20 blood test, $20 a heart test). Speaking for the office, Nancy, claimed on the phone with my insurance and I, that I should know the difference between different heart checking machines and the one that I was tested with was not EKG and the copay for the test they did is $20. How am I supposed to be an expert on physicians' machines and know this is for EKG and that is for another test?! They charged me with tests which he never asked me if I waned beyond the annual check up, I thought that is their annual check up, the Dr. did not sit with me to discuss the results of tests, when I asked the office they said if the tests come back fine then the doctor has no reason to discuss results. I am not sure at this point the doctor looked at my results. When I called the office they claimed that when the doctor asked me if there is anything wrong with me I should have said none, that any comment of any nature on my health would change the visit to a specialist. Otherwise it seizes to be an annual check up and they do tests on me and charge me for a cardiologist visit. I was very clear I have no issues with my heart nor anyone in my family. My only concern was that there is breast cancer in my family and my breast hurts sometimes and I want a referral to mammogram. I do not see how that leads to a cardiologist visit!
