Excellent selection of Chinese books, art / calligraphy supplies, and basically anything to do with Chinese culture. They also offer Chinese painting and calligraphy lessons, which have been super helpful

Things here are on the pricier side (especially books), but I'm learning Chinese calligraphy and these books are hard to find elsewhere... so it makes sense that they charge a premium. Their calligraphy brush selection was much better than Blick (duh). They have a huge calligraphy section, also includes books for arts like 山水 and Chinese painting techniques for animals. Receptionist speaks native-level Cantonese. Have not tested speaking Mando or English here yet.

Great little place with a great selection. Classes for Chinese calligraphy and a great selection of calligraphy things for any level. This is pretty much almost the last Chinese bookstore in New York city due to all the changes, be sure to check it out before it disappears! Wanted to find some calligraphy gifts for my grandma and this was pretty much the only place with a good selection of things. The other bookstore I went to barely had anything

I’m Japanese calligrapher. I ordered Chinese traditional flaming for my works to this store. It took longer than expectation (more than two weeks) but still works were great. Friendly people there. Only Chinese people should call if you have questions. Reception lady does not know English at all. Except that, nice place!!

This bookstore fills an important need for New York's Chinatown and beyond: it's one of the very few businesses in the area that sells Chinese-language books and materials on Chinese culture (including art supplies). That said, I'm very disappointed with the staff here, who deceived me in selling a Hong Kong-themed model kit at a 50% discount but neglected to inform their customers that the kit was not only used but also missing plenty of parts. I knew I couldn't return the kit thanks to their "no refund, no exchange" policy. But when I brought it back to the bookstore to show the saleswoman, she dug in her heels and said I should've checked the (sealed) kit on-site either before or after purchasing it. To be fair, she did offer another item of my choice at half-price. Still, her response struck me as needlessly defensive: no apology, just a feeble "it's not my fault" line. It's a shame, because I really do believe Chinatown could use more bookstores like this one. But I won't be coming back here.
