A nice little Asian market nestled on the lower level of Chelsea Market. They offer a wide variety of snacks and food, as well as drinks, including bobas and teas. We split a bag of kimchi flavored Lays to taste test (which we both were a fan of) and got a couple of drinks which were also pretty good. Definitely consider stopping in even if you don’t plan on buying anything, it’s cool to see the variety of items they have
Great supermarket, lots of food diversity and options! In regards to food items, the pork belly baos, kimbap, and mochi was really good! The matcha and lychee bubble teas, as well as the various fruit milks at the market such as banana milk are extremely delicious as well! Good service and quickness in making the food. Overall great experience.
This Chelsea Market shop sells a variety of Asian foods, both prepared meals/snacks and pantry items. There are different stations to place your order and pick up depending on what you’re ordering. My friend and I ordered bubble tea. I got a cocoa oolong milk tea with pearls and she got the Chelsea drink which is strawberry milk. I thought my tea was really good, the perfect balance of tea with smooth cocoa, not too sweet (I got 25% sweetness which is the minimum level for this drink). The pearls were fresh and still warm in a lightly sweet syrup. My friend said her Chelsea drink tasted good but was really heavy (I didn’t try it). The two workers there were friendly and the turnaround time for the drinks after ordering was pretty fast. Pearl River Mart doesn’t have its own seating, but there are other general seating areas in the market.
The market is overpriced and has an awful selection, nothing I was looking for. The prices are just robbery considering the portion size and food quality. The dumplings and kimbap/bowls looked tasteless and the buns had atrocious pricing so I went with the gua bao and it was a ridiculous portion for the price. 3 tiny buns I can eat in a few bites for over $16? And they have the audacity to ask for a tip. The staff are unfriendly and gave me chopsticks instead of a fork or knife or spoon or just nothing because this is finger foods?? Or just leave it out or ask instead of just giving me chopsticks. It's not even authentic Asian food so why do you care about giving chopsticks. It came out lukewarm and the bread was fluffy and the meat and sauce wasn't bad but it was not enough. And they should have shreeded and peeled the cucumber instead of just giving it whole. That made it gross. Learn to cook. Go to Chinatown don't eat this garbage.
It's just unbelievable my friend got food poisoning from a shop (Mao's Bao) here at CHELSEA MARKET! The meat inside of the bun tasted very weird since last time I visited but I was a fan of Kimbap Lab so it makes me feel bad to lash out here, but that bao shop just horrible x 2! Be really careful what you choose to eat here folks.
