Pell Wellness

On Thanksgiving Day, after watching the Macy’s Parade, we took the subway to Grand Street. We walked to Pell Street using Google Maps to find House of Joy. A charismatic massage therapist was standing outside Pell Wellness. I explained that we needed to eat first, afterwards we will return for a Reflexology foot massage. She handed me her card to remember the location of Pell Wellness. Satisfied with our Thanksgiving Chinese meal, we returned to the spa to lounged on the laid back chaise furniture at the entrance of the spa. We each had an hour of Reflexology on our tired swollen feet. I enjoyed the foot massage because I understand the health benefits of improving blood circulation from heart to feet and back. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients from the food that we eat to the feet. Unwanted swelling on the feet is removed to aid mobility. Vhuntermassage LLC

Absolutely amazing foot and neck massage. We did a combo after a lot of walking in NYC and so happy we stumbled across this wonderful spot. Would absolutely come again!

The spa was very clean and the staff were amazing. My therapist checked in on the pressure and focused on the areas I requested. My neck and shoulders feel much less tight.

I do a lot of cardio and weightlifting in the gym. As a result, I’m almost always sore. Tonight, I went to Pell Wellness. I used Google translate to type my requests in Mandarin Chinese. My masseuse was a woman named Ruby-ee (sp?). She was close to perfect. She used just the right amount of pressure- not too hard, not too soft. Throughout the session, she asked me if I was ok. I have one complaint about this place- the massage bed is too small. I’m not a huge guy (6’1”, 215). My arms hung off the side of the bed, my feet protruded off the bed, and my head couldn’t fit in the hole. This problem isn’t the fault of Pell Wellness- almost every spa that I’ve been to has beds that are small. Massage beds are designed for petite women since they are the primary clientele of spas. After I told Ruby-ee that I was uncomfortable, she came up with a creative solution. She told me to lay on my back. She then placed a pillow under my head. I felt so much better. After the session, I gave her a $20 tip. I will definitely be back.
