Pho Dragon for the WIN! Was fortunate enough to have randomly walked into Pho Dragon one cold night while in the city! Let’s just say this is in the top 3 best Pho I’ve ever had in my life. #1 on the list is the Short Rib served in a massive bowl of yumminess. Short Rib was cooked to perfection as it was fall off the bone and melt in your mouth tenderness. They had to have slow cooked that for many hours to get that meat so perfectly tender. It was truly incredible. #2 Tai Chin Nam Gan was flawless. Finally, the service was great with Federico and food served within minutes of ordering.
This is my first time trying pho and it was phenomenal. I ordered a Chin Nam Gau Gan Sach for takeout. The way it is packaged made it nearly impossible to put together for a work lunch unless you happened to have a large bowl handy. So I saved it for dinner at home and was amazed how delicious the broth was. It's among the best broths I've ever tried. The only downside was the very small amount of meat (only 2 ounces).
This is a no-frills Vietnamese restaurant serving one of the best Pho and Banh mi in Manhattan. The price is on par with Chinatown but without the greasy sauce bottles. The hot pho soup was the perfect cure for a cold evening. The server was very friendly and knew exactly what we needed when I asked for grilled pork on the side. We even got 10% off in celebrating the restaurant's new opening. This will be my new Vietnamese spot in the city! The restaurant had a lot of seating - even though it might look small from the storefront.
I appreciate the service here. I ordered the special pho and initially received very few pieces of tendon and tripe, but the waiter was very accommodating and understanding, and promptly brought it back to the kitchen to correct the order. The soup itself is tasty and flavorful. That said, I do feel the prices are a bit on the high side for what you get. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to come back, but if I’m in the area, I’d consider stopping in again.
The pho was okay overall, but it didn’t feel very authentic in terms of Vietnamese flavors. It tasted pleasant, but it seemed quite Americanized. The herb selection was minimal — just some cilantro and mint and no other fresh herbs that are typically expected with pho. I was hoping for a more traditional flavor profile. They also served lemon instead of lime, and the portion of meat was very small. The staff were professional and friendly That said, if you’re simply looking for something warm and comforting, it’s an acceptable option — just don’t expect a truly authentic Vietnamese pho experience.
