Poetica Coffee

Lovely local-feeling coffee shop with the reliability of a “Starbucks”. Strong wifi, clean tables, good for laptop / coworking / studying. 2h table time per purchase (super fair). No bathroom/restroom. Poetica latte - brown sugar vanilla - was too sweet for me in the hot form. Maybe would be nicer as an iced drink. Perogi / pastry was ultra mid tho. Would not order their baked goods

The coffee was really great; I couldn't complain. They also have decaf, which was a great option! However, we had a misunderstanding twice. I'm aware that my English is British English, but that was the only shop where I was misunderstood. Of course, both times I paid for the service, even though I had to pay twice, because I didn't get what I ordered.

Delightful Literary Coffee Spot in New York: I stopped by Poetica Coffee on a rainy New York morning. I’d seen the quaint spot several times riding the bus to the lower east side of the city. It looked so very inviting and true enough to my very good culinary instincts, so it was! I had a very nicely brewed cappuccino and their vanilla yoghurt pots were delicious. They have an assortment of pastries and several served up just for the vegan palate. The macaroons looked inviting : ) The cafe has a somewhat European feel to it and is small with only 9 tables. It’s the perfect spot for a coffee and good newspaper /book read or for me a place for a teacher to mark papers or a journalist to write a review on the weekends or quiet day in the city. Chill music makes for a very relaxed atmosphere in this sunlight lofty feel cafe, which seemed to me like a literary dinning reservoir for residents of the area. The service and staff are extremely warm and friendly which made my morning visit perfect - relaxed and very peaceful indeed - just the way I like it. Enjoy your time at this delightfully oh so cute cafe!

Nice place to stop by for a coffee. I was enticed by the neon pothos plants displayed at the front of the entrance. They seem to have a very community led focus with a notice board for local events and plenty of cute vintage interior, books and art. You certainly feel like you’ve walked through a Time Machine into the past. I got a flat white on the go which was standard. Fast and friendly service. Worth a visit to admire the hanging plants and if you like vintage themed places for a quick coffee.

((3.25 stars)) location location location! a very convenient location in the East Village, near St. Marks. interior seating plus exterior seats during warmer months. neatly maintained. no bathroom which is a limitation for a place where people seem to camp out to work or study. this has a menu made up of coffee & tea drinks plus some baked items. been here a few times to grab a coffee and go. coffee is not very memorable. ain’t bad but ain’t great. service is fine. this place has more aesthetic in personality than an actual personality, but Poetica is busy so i am probably missing something.
