Reunion Church

Me and my wife moved to the city 2 years ago and our biggest worry was how would we find community in a place as dense and fast as New York. We visited Reunion along with other churches and instantly felt the uniqueness and warmth this place and its people offer. It has been so amazing to be part of such a loving community!

Before coming to Reunion, I wanted a community so badly. I thought NYC was just a lonely city and I had to be okay with that. Winter of 2023, I watched one of Reunions sermon on YouTube and thought “they seem cool”. The next week, I walked into Reunion and it changed my life. My very first day, I met the kindest people who opened their home to me and my partner — cozy dinner parties, movie nights, volunteering opportunities, Bible studies focused on community (called Community Groups), Lent services before the work day. Within in the year, I couldn’t believe how many incredible people had come into my life from this church. I’ve never experienced anything like Reunion but it can’t be attributed to anything than the kind pretense of Jesus every time we all gather. I feel included, loved, and spiritually kindled. I am motivated to learn about Jesus with space to come to community groups with my question and doubts and imperfections. What’s even more incredible is the pastor and his family have brought me and my partner into their circle and are there when we need them. I’m telling you right now. If you are crying out for incredible community that motivates you to persue faith in Jesus, you will love Reunion. I’m so thankful for every single person at Reunion.

I started stepping into faith and got my first Bible in 2018, yet I still consider myself a relatively new Christian. I’ve now attended many church services all around the world, and I must say that Reunion offers something special. Intelligent and relevant sermons rooted in Jesus and Scripture, kind staff, various opportunities to serve within NYC, a willingness to pray for anyone/anytime, talented musicians, childcare during service, fun celebrations and more. I like the way they do things. I have made many friendships, deepened my faith and understanding, discovered lots of great music and I got baptized with Russel/Reunion, at the beach! My wife and I have been coming in for more than a year and we love it.

Love this community church. I’ve been going for about 2.5 years now and fall in love with it more and more. The pastor Russel is genuine and honest, really focusing on cultural context of the texts, who Jesus is, and the importance of love. People who are genuinely seeking to love others without the icky baggage of other church human legalism and hierarchy etc. Def majority younger audience (20s, 30s) but all welcome. They have kids church too and great events to get to know people.

We were looking for a church when I moved to New York with my wife, and we feel so blessed to have found this community. This non-denominational church is always thinking about how Jesus would serve and love the community, and they do a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome! The people here have been my core group that's helped me to stay grounded in the chaos that is NYC.
