Ohmg ❣️ This place has such amazing vegan Vietnamese food and even the staff here is such sweetheart. If you are confused, order these and these are most recommended dishes according to me : 1. Bun Hue - 9.5/10 : The Flavour, the noodles, The tofu and the veggies, all great. 2. Goi Ngo Sen- The Lotus Salad 9.8/10 - It was my first time eating something so different but trust me, it’s yummm. 3. Cha Gio - Fried Spring Rolls 8/10 - They are like Spring Rolls, nice. Nothing different but taste is good. 4. Viatnamese Coffee - 7/10 - Coffee like coffee ❣️ 5. Thai Tea - 8.5/10 Different and must try. Will definitely come back again ☺️
Sen Saigon is a tight little space filled to the brim with hospitality and technique. Before any food came out, we were served a complimentary steaming hot cup of artichoke tea, already starting off with some interesting herbal and floral flavors. The bun hue was a really nice light lemongrass broth and a nice medium spice, I added some of the chili/garlic/ginger paste they include on the table. The medium heat pork belly bahn mi was incredible, they make it in house and layer soy rib, tapioca starch and rice paper, deep fry that, and it has the most incredible fatty layered texture. Heat and flavor was deep and complex with the in-house pate. We finished with the Vietnamese Flan, also incredibly textured with some deep eggy custardy flavor. Need to stop here every time I’m in Chinatown!
Stopped by for veganuary and did the prix fixe and it was delicious! They ran out of the pork belly so I’ll have to come back and try it. The bun hue was fantastic and the broth was flavorful like bun bo hue. The appetizer sampler and honestly the prix fixe should stay on the menu! Didn’t snap a pic of the Vietnamese coffee or the oatmilk/ agar based flan but that was a sweet finish. This reminded me of the do chay you can order from the Buddhist temples in Southern California. Glad there’s a place in the city making tasty, authentic, and approachable Vietnamese food!
Incredible little gem for vegan Vietnamese food! The staff was super friendly (shoutout to Andy!) and the food soo flavorful and fresh. All the dishes were plated beautifully as well, you can really taste/see the love in everything. Highly recommend the bun hue, bun heo quay (pork belly with vermicelli), and the lotus salad and rice crackers. The flan was delicious too if you're looking for a sweet treat after your meal!
I ordered from GrubHub so I can’t comment on the service & atmosphere. I got the vermicelli bowl with vegan pork belly and I was pleasantly surprised how comparable it can be to the real deal & it’s kosher! At times I felt like the pork belly was somewhat of a churro texture & flavor, overall my meal was great. The portion for lunch was filling and the sauce was my favorite part of the meal. Well balanced, no fish sauce, and perfect amount of spice, although I would have preferred more since I order it spicy. I’m excited to visit the restaurant and try more of their menu.
