Came all the way from Toronto and tried this resto. The food was so good 👍 and super worth coming. Will come back again on our next visit!! Great service and excellent food. Delicious 😋.
As a Chinese, I can say with certainty that the dim sum here is very authentic and of a very high standard, not too salty or over seasoned, and it is always busy but the woman at the front desk is very patient, and it is a large venue for parties, always a perfect place for dim sum
The booking doesn't mean much to this restaurant. Booked a table a week in advance, when arrived, was told the second floor was taken for party, and sent us down to the basement. After all that, the service and food were excellent.
Consistent and typical of your expected Chinatown dim sum restaurant. The name is misleading, but this place has one of the best dim sum selection for the shorter wait compared to House of Joy or Golden Unicorn. It seems like the original aunties and uncles from the old Jing Fong come here now. For the tourist friends or those who never had dim sum, scale your expectations. They will not have the patience for customer service. You need to be prepared to go in, point, eat, then head out. Minimal niceties.
TOURIST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Left 3 stars on the food just for the portion size. I rarely, rarely leave reviews but I cannot let this one go. I should have just waited for the original place I wanted to try around the corner. Only one other table was seated when we arrived. The waiter we had was genuinely inviting, seated us immediately. The lady with the Dim Sum cart came over before we could take jackets off and began to repeatedly ask if we wanted anything. Initially stated no politely, apparently she’s not suppose to accept no as an answer. I said no again, she proceeds to hold up pork baskets. I stated ‘No Pork’, she continued to offer a beef/pork, beef or shrimp options anyway over and over, until we finally said yes just to get her to leave. Literally would not accept no. The waiter began talking to us at the same time she was, which was a bit much. Never offered or brought water to the table, just brought Jasmine tea (it was okay, no complaints on the tea) and kept coming back to the table asking if we needed help with picking a dish, even though we had only been sat less than 5 mins and were winding down from walking for last few hours. We ordered something just to eat, no issue there. Food comes out, portion of Shrimp fried rice was sharable, asked for beef/shrimp, only had shrimp on arrival. A bit bland on the seasoning but we were hungry. The waiter was attentive up to this point. Realized he hadn’t come back to the table after the dumplings came out after the main dish, figured he was maybe helping in the back. By this time, the other table had left and a new table was being sat by the other waiter, still only two tables of patrons in this entire banquet hall. At the point we were done eating, I started to look around for the waiter. I took a bathroom break hoping he would come by the table, he didn’t. Began stacking plates to make it more apparent we needed the check, the other waiter on the floor sat down to count cash at another table, looked up occasionally but did not seem phased by us as we were not his table. An entire 10 additional minutes goes by before I get up and walk to the counter to try to pay to which the other waiter all of a sudden notices I’m ready and walks up behind me and says something in their native language to a woman who was seated with other men talking the whole time we were there. Looked to maybe be apart of management I asked how to pay, she starts looking through the tickets for mine (there was only one other table) and sets it down, $43.96 is tallied up. I asked if they accept card and her response is to tap the bill and say ‘how much tip?’ I respond ‘I want to leave the tip to the waiter’. She states ‘You have to leave tip for the waiter here, how much do you want to leave for the waiter??’ I’m getting flustered at the point because the waiter who was counting cash at a separate table whom never serviced us is standing to the side of me, I guess trying to make sure I leave a tip for his co-worker, or maybe take it for himself, I have no idea. I ask if I can pay with cash, she says ‘card, you want to leave $6 tip for the waiter?’ I respond ‘The waiter I havent seen in 20 minutes???’ She says ‘$6 tip for waiter is okay?’. DO NOT EAT HERE AS A TOURIST!!! Leave this place to the locals. They literally will not let you pay without leaving a tip!!! With no guarantee the server will actually get it.
