I have very bad shoulder and neck pain. And trying 5-6 different places in Brooklyn and queens I will always come here. The staff goes by numbers and number 5 is the person I prefer to go to as he is strong, thorough, hits all the painful knots I have, and very kind. Asian massages are different from Americans. American massage places focus on technique but after you leave, few hours later your still sore as if they never really get rid of the knots and ease any tensions. Here, if you can take pain they will help get rid of any tensions or build up you might have on your body . You might feel sore after but my body feels really loose and good for next few days. People complaining about pain but you can always ask to them to be more gentle, why take the massage for an hour and then complain it’s too hard afterwards. As for tip complaints, when I go out to eat at places and spend 150$ on a dinner or so on a good dinner you still tip 20% just for waiters to bring out food you ordered, mean while massage places put a straight hour of effort and require a lot of energy to perform the massage should get more then waiter. I tip my barber 20$ for a cut they already get paid to do to show appreciation. Its not the same as restaurant, 20% of 40$ massage is $8, how you tipping $8 for hard work vs someone pouring water and bringing out food you ordered out. If you don’t got 15-20$ to tip hard working people for their work just stay home with your tense body. Absolutely recommend if you have tense shoulders, neck, back or feet pain , this is my favorite spot. * After coming here few times booking #5 and got to know the guy, some of these 1 star reviews are from competitors since he was highly recommended from previous places he worked at, stay salty.
Wonderful, deep full-body massage. A perfect combination of manual techniques and oil massage. Highly recommend this place. Calm music and very clean space. Cup of tea in the end. Just 40$! Expect to leave 20$ tip - it’s totally worth it.
My go to massage spot to loosen the tightness in the back. If you’re looking for a relaxing, non- deep tissue massage, this is not it. They have a lot of masseuse on staff. They go by numbers here, and I’ve gotten #6, #8, #10, and #11. All are really good and strong. This place is always packed- I guess it’s a testament to their good service- so I wasn’t always able to get the ladies. The two times I’ve gotten the male masseur, they were super duper strong ( that farmer strength is real yo). If you like to mix it up, you can also request for half foot (30 mins) and half body (30 mins) massage as well. There’s additional rooms and chairs downstairs which is much quieter from all the commotion from the customers walking in and staff talking amongst themselves upstairs. All the staff there barely speak a lick of English. So if they ask you “tired” at a spot that just means it’s tight and will usually try to hammer it down to loosen it, which they will follow up with “pain?” Which is your chance to say lower the strength. If you’re looking for a deep tissue massage- this place is it! ***JULY2025They currently have a special promotion going: $400 for 10 packages and they’ll gift 5 extra, so the total will be 15 sessions for $400, which is an absolute steal. I usually tip them $20-$25 per session bc they absolutely work hard and deserve it!
I’ve visited SHUI XIAN GE SPA 水仙阁 SPA 养生馆 several times. Overall, I’ve often felt satisfied with their services, and many of the staff have provided a relaxing and professional experience. However, there are a few things customers should be aware of. English communication can be limited, so it helps to speak Mandarin or use a translation app. On one visit, the massage I received felt underwhelming. The masseuse did not apply much strength and lacked the level of technique I’ve experienced from other staff members there. Because I wasn’t fully satisfied, I left a smaller tip than usual. To my surprise, the masseuse insisted on a higher tip, saying she worked hard. Tipping should reflect the customer’s satisfaction and is not mandatory. While the spa has a stated $15 per hour tip policy — which I have often paid without issue — I don’t appreciate being pressured for additional money, especially when the service did not meet expectations. It also made the situation uncomfortable because of the language barrier, which made it difficult to explain my concerns. If management is reading this, I encourage better training in customer service and hospitality. Pressuring customers for tips creates an awkward experience. If a fixed service charge is expected, it may be better to adjust pricing accordingly to avoid misunderstandings. Overall, I’ve had both good and underwhelming experiences here. Consistency and professionalism would go a long way.
You get what you pay for here.. not a relaxing setting at all and the two times I came here, the massages were unsatisfying. There was no technique, just pushing against my back the entire time. Didn’t even use oil and was massaging me with the towel which is not how traditional massages are done. Most don’t speak English so there’s no communication on how you want your massage, pressure to apply or if there is any areas of focus. Very disappointing when you’re looking forward to a massage only to leave unsatisfied. I think I’d rather spend more money elsewhere for a better experience.
