Sishu Mandarin (Long Island City)

Recently attended the "Free Mandarin Chinese Classes for Beginners" session and had a great experience. Tian (instructor) had a really great teaching style and was able to accommodate all of the student equally. Check them out on Meetup or on their website !

Tian and his team at Sishu Mandarin do a phenomenal job teaching Mandarin and meet you at your level. The classes are one hour weekly. The time is spent learning pinyin, vocabulary, phrases, and characters. The instructors are happy to answer any questions during the lessons. In addition to the weekly classes, Tian often holds online sessions that are optional, but well worth going to. He even had a meet and greet with Mandarin speakers of all levels and that was very enjoyable. I been attending classes since November 2025 and have not had any issues learning Mandarin at Sishu Mandarin. I highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in learning Mandarin.

If you want to learn Mandarin, I highly recommend Sishu Mandarin! I have been taking classes for 3 months now and have had a great experience. The small class sizes and friendly instructors make it comfortable to practice without feeling too self-conscious. I’m looking forward to continuing learning Mandarin with them!

Highly recommend taking classes with Sishu Mandarin! I really enjoy the small, roundtable class structure and find the in-person classes very helpful for practicing tones. Will continue to grow my mandarin proficiency with them!
