Star Laundromat

It’s been quite some time since my last visit here. Washer broke at home and I had no choice but to go to my local laundromat. Not much has changed, still very rundown however 24 hour location is very convenient and that’s all there is to it.

Avoid Star Laundromat at All Costs! Today, I went to wash my clothes at Star Laundromat next to Gold City Supermarket, thinking I could do my laundry while grocery shopping. I used machine #39. After inserting the coins, I heard a click, which meant the machine had started, so I left to run some errands. When I returned, I opened the lid and was shocked to find the clothes still completely dry. I found the Korean lady managing the place, and after checking, she insisted that I had used the wrong machine and told me to insert more coins. This time, the machine started washing normally. However, the machine to the right, #38, was clearly marked “Out of Order,” so there’s no way I would’ve put my coins into that one. The machine on the left, #40, finished a little later than mine, which also proves my point. If I had mistakenly used the wrong machine, it would have run empty, and the man who used #40 wouldn’t have been able to put his clothes in and start it. Besides, I put my clothes into machine #39 and immediately inserted the coins. There’s absolutely no chance I would’ve taken a few steps over to #40 to insert coins there instead. I asked her to check the surveillance footage just to confirm what happened. I’ll admit that mistakes can happen, especially when I’ve been a bit forgetful lately. But she firmly refused to check the footage, saying it wasn’t available. Later, the man who used machine #40 confirmed that it only started washing after he inserted his coins. If I had used it by mistake, the machine would have been running empty, and he wouldn’t have needed to insert coins. When I confronted the manager again, she stubbornly insisted that I had made the mistake, claiming that this happens to many people. She also said that maybe the machine ate my coins or was malfunctioning and mentioned she would call someone to repair it—but still refused to refund my money. She kept making excuses, saying, “How do I know if you actually inserted coins?” but refused to check the surveillance footage to verify the situation. I strong recommend you not to go there for laundry. If you have to, pls make sure you put in the coins and the machine washes correctly before you leave the machine. It’s really the worst laundromat I’ve ever been to in New York.

Terrible service. I brought in my girlfriend's white coat to be cleaned, and it was returned still dirty. That is the absolute bare minimum expectation for a cleaner, and they failed at it. There was clearly no quality control, no attention to detail, and no professionalism. I paid for a service that was not performed. If you can’t properly clean a white coat, you shouldn’t be in business. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place.

DONT EVER COME TO THIS PLACE! The dryer door is broken, doesn’t close tightly. When we come back after an hour, the door was open with cloth all WET! After we told the store worker, he blamed we have too much clothes with a horrible attitude!!! NOT ADMITTED the dryer door was the issue!!!! We switched to a different dryer with the same amount of clothes with no problem! WASTE time and money in this place!!!!
