I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr.Sure From the very first appointment, he made me feel heard, respected, and truly cared for. He takes the time to listen to every concern without rushing and always explain things in a way that is clear and reassuring. I’ve been going to him for almost 5 years now and I am grateful to have found a doctor who really cares.
Minerva is truly missed here. Typically, when scheduling an appointment, patients are informed whether their insurance is active or not. I work in the city and rushed all the way to Queens specifically to be seen, only to be told—very rudely by Pedro—that my insurance was not active, which was inaccurate. He stated I could not be seen at all. I explained that I was coming from far away, but he completely dismissed my concerns. Out of frustration, I mentioned that this situation would not have happened if Minerva were there, to which he replied, “Well, I’m not Minerva.” I called Healthfirst myself after being dismissed and was told my insurance is ACTIVE! If PEDRO WOULD’VE DONE HIS JOB HE WOULD’VE TOO REALIZED MY INSURANCE IS ACTIVE! The lack of professionalism was extremely disappointing, especially since I have been a patient of Dr. Sure for many, many years. Unfortunately, due to this experience, I will not be returning. Dr. Sure, if you happen to read this, thank you for being such a wonderful and caring doctor. Sadly, the front desk experience does not reflect the quality of care you provide, and the staff could benefit greatly from better training in professionalism and patient interaction.
I had a disappointing experience at this office during my first visit as a new patient. I chose Dr. Sure as my PCP, but I was not seen by him. I was seen by a Physician Assistant, who was professional and helpful. However, as a first-time patient, I would have expected at least some acknowledgment or introduction from the doctor. After the visit, I asked how to access the patient portal so I could review my test results and manage my own health information. The PA correctly directed me to the front desk. When I asked the front desk, the staff member who identified himself as Eddie (Pedro) responded rudely and asked, “Why do you need that?” As a patient, I should not have to justify access to my own medical records. Patient portal access is standard. What made this worse was that he questioned the PA in front of me about why I was told I could have portal access. This was unprofessional and uncomfortable, and there was no apology. It also felt like there was pressure to schedule another visit even if results were normal. I also noticed other reviews describing similar front desk behavior and referencing a staff member by a different name (such as Pedro), which is concerning. Additionally, several reviews mention insurance being billed for unnecessary items or visits, so I will be closely reviewing my bills. Front desk staff set the tone for a medical practice, and this experience left a poor impression. I hope Dr. Sure addresses these issues going forward.
