We were able to quickly schedule our newborn visit (discharged from the hospital and called on Saturday, seen Monday morning). The staff were all so welcoming and patient with us as sleep-deprived new parents. We saw NP Kelly Covel, and she was fantastic: personable and efficient, but not rushing us at all. We really couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Hello. Today my children had their first appointment with a doctor at the clinic. The clinic is clean, cozy, beautiful, well-located and we were left with very pleasant impressions. The receptionist and nurse were polite and welcoming, and I am very grateful to them for their assistance. Dr. Briana Johnson is a remarkable, caring, and attentive physician. We went to Tribeca Pediatrics (LIC location) for a sick visit with our newborn son. While he was crying, the pediatrician tried to soothe him by rubbing his hair, but she did so roughly, even though his skull is still soft. This didn’t seem appropriate for such a young infant, and it felt unnecessary—there was no medical reason to touch his head in that way. It was different from checking for a soft spot; it felt more like playing with his hair. While he was still unclothed on the exam table, she picked him up and held him against her chest without asking our permission to hold him in such an intimate way. Then, without saying anything except “I’m going to get something,” she immediately left the room with him—without asking for or receiving our consent. My husband only followed because I insisted. While we understand that a pediatrician may want to comfort a crying newborn, the way our baby was handled and removed from us without permission felt invasive, dismissive of our parental role, and unprofessional. We have had positive experiences with other providers at this clinic, but this visit left us extremely uncomfortable and has eroded our trust in the practice.

Our experience with Tribeca Pediatrics was limited to two visits over a 1-week period for our newborn son. Unfortunately, the dismissal and false reassurance we received preceded his hospitalization for respiratory failure. Our son had respiratory distress since birth and was initially diagnosed with Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN), which should resolve within the first few days of life. I am a NICU nurse, so I was able to recognize that something wasn't right. At our first visit, I raised concerns that he was still breathing fast and was reassured that this should resolve. These concerns, and his respiratory history, were not documented in his medical record. His notes also inaccurately described his delivery as uncomplicated and vaginal, when it was in fact an urgent C-section. We returned days later due to worsening symptoms, including persistent fast breathing, stridor with feeds, and intermittent cyanosis. Dr. Johnson dismissed these concerns, including a video showing clear stridor, which she described as "normal baby sounds." A few days later, when called the after-hours nurse line as his symptoms worsened, I was again reassured that “babies breathe fast,” and the call was inaccurately documented as nasal congestion, which I explicitly stated he did not have. Despite their repeated reassurance, we went to the ER, where he was hospitalized for two weeks in respiratory failure, required prolonged respiratory support, extensive workup, and was discharged home on oxygen. We transferred care immediately to another local pediatrician office and experienced a night-and-day difference. If you choose Tribeca Pediatrics, be aware that concerns may be minimized, after-hours coverage is limited, immunizations are not required, documentation could be inaccurate, and visits are very brief. When something is wrong, this can be a danger to a child's health and well-being.
