This review is LONG overdue. I’ve been coming here for 2+ years, every 3-4 weeks without fail. Best customer service & they do the best nails I’ve ever had, every time. They will do any design I want and make sure they look perfect. Even when I am a clutz and break one, they fix it for free. Everyone who works here is so sweet, I always go to my girl Amanda but they are all great. Some say it’s expensive but you 100% get what you pay for (it’s worth it). If you want your nails to look perfect & get gel that lasts, come here.

I cannot say enough good things about Sakura Nails on First Avenue & First Street. I’ve been a loyal client since 2016, back when they also had their second location on East 86th Street, and that alone should tell you how exceptional they are. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years — and I don’t stay anywhere that doesn’t consistently deliver. The level of professionalism, cleanliness, and care they provide is unmatched. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated with respect, warmth, and genuine attention. The staff is skilled, detail-oriented, and truly takes pride in their work. My nails are always done beautifully, cleanly, and exactly how I want them — no rushing, no cutting corners. What really sets Sakura Nails apart is how they treat their clients. They remember you, they listen, and they maintain the same high standards year after year. That kind of consistency is rare, especially in New York City. If you’re looking for a nail salon that values quality, professionalism, and long-term client relationships, this is it. Sakura Nails has earned my trust and loyalty for more than a decade, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

My favorite place to go! I have been going for over 14 years to this salon and my nails never felt brittle or have I ever had any issues with the gel. Junko and her team are very professional and accommodating. If you’re debating on trying this salon, don’t hesitate and give them a call because you won’t be disappointed. The cleanliness and vibe of the salon was amazing, the women working there were super sweet, and the color selection was very diverse... but that is where is all the good comments I have end. I wanted to love it given the many reviews and stars, however I was extremely disappointed. I was a walk in and requested a manicure with nail extensions and a cateye gel design, and experienced all the issues below 1. When the gel x nails were applied, too much glue was added on 4/5 nails on my right hand which caused my skin to burn when putting it under the light. I asked 2x to file away the excess glue as having it touching your skin and encapsulating your natural nail is unsafe, and it was not properly addressed. She started with attempting to dig it out/separate the glue from my skin using nail clippers which hurt and pierced it. And when I asked the second time, she simply filed it with a regular file so it was flat filled surface underneath my nail. 2. My nail extension was filed crooked. When I asked for it to get fixed, they attempted to but ultimately caused the nail to appear weird. 3. They were unable to create any of the designs I asked for. Nor was anything really explained in terms of what could be done. (The person next to me was given a few options and asked for her preference). 4. After I left, I noticed the top coat had a bubble on one of the fingers. I am usually not really the type to be super bothered on small details like design, shape, and issues with the top coat as I understand some things can be missed. However, I chose to get my nails done (rather than doing them myself) for the safety of a professional and correct application. I can overlook all the issues except that. Overall, I would not be returning nor do I feel comfortable for them to fix it. I am just disappointed and needed to share for those who may have similar concerns or thoughts. 2 stars are for the vibe, cleanliness, kindness, and good cuticle work.

Got one of the worst manicures ever from here, they made my nails look tacky and it was extremely expensive. It looks like there is glue all over and it doesn’t sit on my mail right. They ruined my nails right before a trip so I am stuck with them. The manicurist was also very short and rude throughout the process. I will never be returning and would like my money back. Terrible experience!!
