Waypoint Church (Elmhurst, Queens)

I always feel welcomed when I visit. The people here truly care about others. Not just with thoughts, but with love in action.

It's always a good time at Waypoint Church. I really value the intentionality that goes behind their events and how they welcome others!

After moving to Queens and church hopping, I settled on attending Waypoint Church for a couple of reasons. The people there are extremely welcoming and open to making friends with newcomers. They make an effort to ensure people are seen and known, modeling after Jesus who made an effort to ensure people were seen and known by God. There is no way to enter in or escape unnoticed haha. I felt very comfortable gradually making friends there, despite my social anxiety. Plus, Waypoint Church continues their seen and known agenda into their neighborhood where they frequently host and participate in events that benefit the community, like Elmhurst street cleaning and graffiti cleanup. Waypoint Church genuinely tries to help the community and equip its members to live intentionally and missionally wherever God placed them to be examples of God's stewards. Their sermons are also based on what the church community needs - so the pastor and core team are in tune with the church community (and are easily approachable). While I would love a more historical and cultural context based sermon/bible study, the majority of their sermons and bible studies are application based, which everyone needs anyways. I think they'll get to the in depth historical/cultural context stuff later, which is good because we should prioritize practically showing God's love to the people in our lives, rather than just knowing a bunch of information about the Bible and never using it. All-in-all, Waypoint Church is a hardworking church whose heart is genuinely dedicated after Jesus. They are close to various methods of public transportation and many good restaurants for post-church dinners. The community is very welcoming and fun to be around.
