I was referred to Dr. William Long by my sister, who had her knee replacement with him several years ago. Like anyone facing surgery, I was nervous, but from my very first visit, Dr. Long immediately put me at ease. His bedside manner is exceptional, and even his excellent reviews don’t fully capture how outstanding he truly is. From consultation through surgery and discharge, I always felt I was in the best hands. The entire team at Hospital for Special Surgery is second to none. I had a full knee replacement on December 15, and by December 20, I already had about 90% range of motion with minimal pain, managed with prescribed medication and Tylenol. My recovery has exceeded expectations. Dr. Long and the team at HSS are simply the best. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering knee replacement surgery

Dr. Long replaced my husband's hip and a year later replaced his knee. Both surgeries went very well and both recoveries were quick. Two months after the knee surgery we went on vacation and my husband was able to walk all day. Truly a miracle! Thank you Dr. Long.

Really am truly grateful to Dr. William Long, and to the staff at HSS. Everything went smoothly and the surgery went extremely well that it took away much of my skepticism. No doubt that I would definitely recommend him. Most of all he was honest, caring, and took his precious time explaining me the immediate and long term effects which helped guide my decision. Thank you for altering and improving my quality of health and life for the better. Still want to express again that I'm grateful beyond measure to have been lucky to have him as my doctor.

Dr. Long replaced my hip 5 years ago. All has gone well and he has always been great to work with. At my two year follow up, I was told to see him again at the 5 year point. I called to schedule this recommended visit and was told that he no longer takes my insurance. which is Medicare and Empire Plan/Nyship as secondary. I was told that I could seek another HSS ortho who does take my coverage, but it just doesn't feel right to start with another MD who had nothing to do with my original surgery. This is not a complaint about Dr. Long , but as I said, I'm very disappointed that I cannot see him for his recommended follow up.
