In New York City, it's not easy to get that kind of spicy Northwest flavor.
Until I met Xi'an Famous Foods, I was really impressed by the spicy flavor!
It's probably one of the most enjoyable cold skin I've had overseas in recent years.
Extra spicy, soft and tough, hot and sour seasoning is on point,
bean sprouts, cucumber and cold skin mixed together, the special spicy sauce is simply the soul on the line.
It's so good that you can't help but wonder how it would taste even if you dipped it in other entrees!
Staff here are friendly and keep the place well maintained. The noodle dishes are my usual go-to means items to order. The dumplings are good if you want a quick dumpling fix. I like that the in-house made beverages are not too sweet and relatively healthy.
I’ve probably been to various Xi’an’s over a dozen times, and my favorite is the Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles. The noodles are thick and since they are hand ripped they have a nice texture that lets the sauce cling onto them. The lamb was soft and easy to pull apart. Also for the price I think it’s a great deal since the portion size is enough for two meals.
This location was a bit smaller than others with around four-six seats, but it was clean and the service was very quick.

It’s very traditional Chinese food. The taset was very good.
I’ve been to Xi’an Famous Food before in multiple locations in NY. I personally like this one because it’s closer to me and I like the area. The food is always good, flavorful and most importantly, SPICY! Always get extra spicy as “If it’s not spicy, then it’s not good.”. Staff is always friendly and makes the food in a timely manner. It may not be life changing food, but it’s always delicious and convenient when you need some hand ripped noodles. Great to go with friends for some casual and quick food or alone.
