Zheng Jin Ji 郑锦记 Fuzhou Cuisine

Stumbled across this eatery for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. We got the fish ball soup, pickled pork sesame bun and the flat rice noodle with spicy pork. Fish balls were large and very clean tasting. The soup was pepper forward but I liked that. Might be one of my favorite fj fish balls ever. The flat rice noodle with spicy pork was very good. The mala spice came through but wasn’t overally spicy. The bun was good too but meat was just slightly dry. Nothing some vinegar couldn’t fix though. Great meal. Would return.

I was exploring this Chinatown during my vacation. I was amazed this community had cuisines from many different provinces and dialects of Asia that I was not familiar with. This place offers two Fuzhou dishes that I never heard of or tried before. One is filled with meat and the other is cooked with lotus roots. Surprisingly, they weren't oily. Both are stuffed with ingredients.

I give 5 stars because the food is piping hot, fresh and good. The fishballs are bouncy stuffed with delicious beef meatball inside. It’s a mom and pop place, owners are nice friendly hard working people from China. I will go back next time I visit NYC.

Both the Pickled Pork Sesame Bun and Sesame Bamboo Shoot Bun are very flavorful, packed well with filling, crisp outside with plenty of sesame seeds. Highly Recommend.

Their food is okay, service is fast and friendly. Didn’t like that that replaced the traditional green bak choy for stir friend noodles with cabbage, the texture of the cabbage ruins it. Flavor is okay. Overall food we tried are also okay that’s why we do return. Something interesting is, their owner/staff was doing live stream on tik tok the whole time we were there. They are trying very hard to survive this tough market these days.
